That may be a bad micro switch (called a latch actuator). ususlly only one at a time will go via regular wear. so both at the same time may also point to the cabin control module that is behind the glove box.

10_30_2013_8_35_47_pm.jpgFrigging easy fix. Inspect your door striker latch, that is fixed to the car ( not on the door). It is the hook looking thing which works as a catch loop for your door. if you put your finger in it, you will feel a little button in there. This button is responsible for doing it. This means when you driving, button engages/disengages. Just apply a bit of epoxy on it, to make it fatter. this way it wont be affected by shaking .
Picture - this is what you looking for. It on the car, not the door. There is a little switch inside it.
If this doesnt help, google e36 window micro switch. cheers.

The door wont open from the inside an outside door latch the door is shut how do i get it open to replace everything

pull your window seal ( the one on the inside) you can see the mechanism from there. now get a wire hanger and bend it so it's shaped like a L.on the end. you should be able to open the door from there.thumbsup.gif or you could try to pop off the inner door panel, since youll need it off to do the repair anyway, from the inside and pull the rod that goes to the latch.. good-day ! if you cannot remove door panel with the door closed. However you can remove the door handle bezel and attempt to work with the latches back there.

Where is the door switch on a dodge durango

Sorry Their are two different types. One is located in the jam of the door, in the body of the car not the door. it is a little black spring loaded button that pushes in when the door is shut. If it doesn't have that style then it is part of the door latch. You can take a screw driver and slide it in the latch to move the jaw on the latch their are two clicks until the latch is completely latched. try that and see if it says anything. Before you start this go arround and make sure all door are shut all the way including hatch. Then check owners manual and see if their is a switch on the dash that controls the interior lighting make sure it is in the off or door only position. There is usualy on off and door.

Doors freeze up wont shut close after opening interior light then stays on

Look at the end of the door where the latch is located. The latch may have flipped to the closed possition when the door was open. There is a U shaped piece that when the door hits the post on the door jam it flips up to hold the door shut.If you can get the passinger door open you can see what it looks like in the open position. If this is the problem just hold the door handle like you are opening the door and with a srew driver or even your finger you can push than U piece back down.To keep your door from freezing shut try putting sone silicone spray on a paper towl and wiping it on the rubber door seal.Spray a little on the door latch as well.

BMW 1996 328i E36 cnvertible Driver side window will not go down and back up when door is opened and then closed? It did this once before but started working but now it has started again.

micro switch may have failed. have a very close look in the door latch fixed to the car...there should be a very small square pressable switch.. open the door and press your finger inside the latch against the little button, the window should drop and raise. If you dont have one there its on the inside of the door lock mechanism.

MY DRIVERS SIDE DOOR WON'T SHUT... THINK THE LITTLE LATCH THING IS BROKE, HOW DO I REPAIR?

did you try lubing it with some lithium grease as most of the time, it's just something rubbing. If that doesn't work, you'll need to remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to get it off the window ledge. Then you'll need to pull off the seal in order to see inside the door. then loosen the bolts holding the latch assembly down and then disconnecting the rods connecting to the latch assembly and remove....

Drivers door wont open iside or out all seems fine but nothing works

It sounds like your linkage has disconnected from the latch. I guess your door is stuck shut. It may be possible, but really hard, but you could try to slide something into the window and try to hit the latch release. It'll be tricky though... If you do manage to pop the door open that way, you'll need to remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to get it off the window ledge. Then you have to pull back the seal covering the door in order to access the linkage assembly from inside the door

Boot does not lock and drivers window does not go up to the seal

Possible reflash to the corresponding computers or the network that they communicate on. moz-screenshot-3.jpgVery complicated systems. I have fixed many problems via this repair. The boot problem may be related to a faulty latch assembly and this will not allow the security system to operate correctly.
