Problems starting my 2006 F-150 with the Key

I'm having problems starting my 2006 Ford F-150 5.4L V8 with the factory key. I have an aftermarket viper remote starter installed and it starts the vehicle everytime I use it but if I attempt to start it with just the key it only works approximately 10% of the time. When using the key to start, my radio and console powers up but the engine doesn't always start. It's getting kind of embarrasing when I go to the car wash and I have to explain how to start it... Any insight?

Try having a new key made or try a spare if you have one,the key chip may be worn, try that first.

2001 ford f150 v8 had problems with intermittent engine shutdown. After letting it sit for half to hour half it would start up. Replaced the fuel and pcm relays, the fuel filter and the fuel pump.

Replaced the fuel and pcm relays, the fuel filter and the fuel pump.????? Your guessing not testing . Did you do fuel pump pressure an flow testing before replacing those parts . How about fuel pump voltage drop testing ?

Testing Electric Fuel Pump Problems with Voltage Drop Test

Besides it doesn't sound like a fuel pump problem ,sounds like electrical problem or electronic problem . What's missing after it shuts down ? Spark or fuel . Testing an not guessing is the key to finding the problem . Hooking up a factory or professional type scan tool to view engine sensor data parameters an checking to factory spes.
046 Engine Hard to Start or No Start Scan Data for No Start
Any sensor when hot can cause these type problems .

2005 Silverado starts fine with key but won't start with remote

Remove the aftermarket remote start system. Soon you won't be able to start the truck at all. Even the factory units only last about 7 years. Every time I get electrical problems with ignition/starting. If it has an aftermarket system. I pull them out. Every time, so far, it has fixed the problem.

I have the viper remote start in my 2010 f250 and the remote start will work just fine but when not using the remote start and just using the key to start the truck it won't start

Common complaint - the aftermarket equipment is interfering with the factory equipment. ALL of the vehicle manufacturers have published Technical Service Bulletins warning their techs about these problems. The aftermarket equipment can cause everything from no-crank/no-start to misfire and transmission shifting problems. Not only do the aftermarket systems themselves have problems, but they usually also cause serious damage to the factory equipment, especially wiring harnesses due to shoddy installation and "butchering" of the harnesses.

Here is a "snapshot" of one of these manufacturer publications:

How can i disable the immobiliser on my fto. The key fob has broken and it wont let me start the engine :-(

Is the alarm / immobilizer factory or aftermarket? If it's aftermarket you will either have to purchase and program a new key fob or completely remove the system and reconnect which ever cuts were made in the wiring.

Need new keychain alarm button

Is this a factory installed alarm system? If so, unlocking the driver door with the key will allow the car to start. If not then you will have to remove the aftermarket alarm system to start the car.
If you have a factory alarm system you can get a new FOB (key chain alarm button) from a ford dealer, but it must be programmed using a scanner , before it will work in your vehicle.

I have an aftermarket Ford remote start on my 2005 Ford Sport Trac. I tried to start with my truck with the key in the ignition, I would hear clicks and then the alarm would go off. I have tried to reset...

First thing is to identify the alarm system, I.E.- who made it and what model it is? (like Viper, Automate, etc...)
Contact the aftermarket alarm manufacturer or the person that installed the alarm (if you had/know who installed the alarm system). Most major system have a phone number and a list of qualified installers for their systems. They will be able to direct you to a shop that can service the system. If your vehicle won't start, you may have to have it towed to the location to diagnose and correct the problem.
