Yeah it is the speed cencer i no this becouse i had the same car and after i put a new one on it. it went great.

I have a Brute Force 750, starts OK but runs rough after a few minutes, will start smoking a smelly black/gray smoke, and most recently some blue smoke.


When the head gasket fails on a liquid (water) cooled engine the typical smoke colour is white (steam) and that becomes rather underlined by the steady drop of the coolant level and often clear evidence combustion gas is leaking into the cooling system.

Smelly black/grey smoke tends to be produced by an over-fuelling condition such as a stuck choke or strangler or other cold starting aid or perhaps carburettor flooding.

Blue or blue/grey smoke is invariably engine oil burning but I suggest you ignore that until the black smoke problem is rectified and after a short time the blue smoke might also disappear. If it doesn't it could be related to the overheating but the black smoke probably wasn't caused by that...

2007 Ranger I-4...stopped running. NO dash lights, motor is turning over but not starting, added gas, primed fuel pump....NOTHING...please help?


Possible the coil pack went out. Did you spray carb clean in the throttle boddy(or a fuel pressure gauge) then tried to start it to make sure it is not a fuel problem? If you tried this and it did not start you will have to check it for spark by pulling a plug wire and testing that. U can use an old spark plug for that. If the engine turns over too easy be carefull! The timing belt could have gone out and could cause major problems. If this is the case you should test the compression on each cylinder.

Well, it can be the caliper itself sticking, or it could be defective brake hoses. If it is affecting both sides equally, then it could even be a defective brake master cylinder or a malfunctioning Antilock Brake unit. To hep determine what the cause is, jack the vehicle up and make sure it is properly supported. Remove the front wheels. Get in the vehicle and start the engine. Press HARD on the brake pedal, then shut the engine off and get out and check to see if you can turn the wheel hubs by hand. If they will not move, open the brake bleeder on the caliper and see if brake fluid squirts out under pressure and see if this causes the brakes to release. If they still won't move you need to replace your calipers. If they release, then I would try replacing the rubber brake hoses to the calipers. (They can collapse internally and keep the calipers applied - you cannot see this by visual inspection.) If replacing the hoses does not make the vehicle pass the test above, then you need to have your ABS Module and your Master Cylinder tested.

I have 2003 grand cherokee with 140000 miles that overheats at idle. as soon as i start moving again, the temp goes back to normal.


You have two fan's on your truck, 1 is a fan clutch runs with the drive belt, 2 elec fan motor, with test light and engine running at normal temp, just a little bit above 1/2 way on your temp gauge check voltage at elec. cooling fan harness if you have voltage at one of the two wire's and fan don't turn on, bad cooling fan motor, on the fan clutch after you check voltage at elec. fan motor turn engine off, with your hand spin drive belt fan if it spin's freely bad fan clutch, replace it.Also check cooling level.Hope this was very helpful

I have a 93 ford explorer 4x4 automatic. The 4x4 doesn't engage, or does anything when the button is pushed. Is this something simple to fix? Thanks Duane


This will take two persons to do...with a light hammer or mallet, hit the 4x4 motor on the transfer case as another person is pushing the 4x4 high switch,while the vehicle is in neutral and the emergency brake on, AND FOOT ON THE BRAKE.BE CARFUL NOT TO RUN OVER YOUR HELPER!!!! If it starts to work,replace the 4x4 motor. The inside of the motor gets corrodid from water and dirt.

Broken Timing belt


this is an interference motor, if cranked the valves will come into contact with the piston and cause major damage. Its very possible that valves may have bent(worst case). Have the belt replaced and engine pressure tested. Hopefully its not the worst case.

Does a 2009 Chevy Silverado have what are referred to as continuosly powered brakes, in other words, is powered supplied when the ignition is off.


NO the power brakes runs off the brake booster which is under vacuum from the intake manifold. You will till have power brakes till the vacuum in the booster equalizes and then your going to have to just use brute force. The only electrical motor that controls your brakes are in the ABS but that just opens and closes valves to keep the wheels from locking up. Good luck and hope this helps.

2-Speed Torque-On-Demand (TOD) Operation
The automatic 4-wheel drive (A4WD) system is a 2-speed torque-on-demand (TOD) operation that utilizes the following components:
  • Transfer case
  • 4-wheel drive (4WD) control module (integral to the powertrain control module [PCM])
  • Mode select switch (MSS)
  • Gearmotor encoder assembly (part of the transfer case shift motor)
  • Transfer case shift motor
  • Shift motor sense plate (part of the gearmotor encoder assembly)
Principles of Operation
Transfer Case Shift Motor The externally mounted transfer case shift motor, located at the rear of the transfer case, turns the shift cam assembly. As the shift cam assembly turns, it positions the reduction shift fork for desired transfer case operation. An integral position sensor in the shift motor provides shift motor position information to the 4WD control module.
Mode Select Switch (MSS) The push button MSS, mounted on the instrument panel, allows the operator to select the 4x4 Auto, 4x4 High, and 4x4 Low transfer case operating modes. The indicator light, on the instrument cluster push button, will illuminate only when the 4x4 Low position is engaged.

  1. If an obvious cause for an observed or reported concern is found, correct the cause (if possible) before proceeding to the next step.
  1. If the concern is not visually evident, connect the diagnostic tool to the data link connector and select the vehicle to be tested from the diagnostic tool menu. If the diagnostic tool does not communicate with the vehicle:
    • check that the program card is correctly installed.
    • check the connections to the vehicle.
    • check the ignition switch position.
  1. If the diagnostic tool still does not communicate with the vehicle, refer to the diagnostic tool operating manual.
  1. Carry out the diagnostic tool data link test. If the diagnostic tool responds with:
    • CAN circuit fault; all electronic control units no response/not equipped, refer to Section 418-00 .
    • No response/not equipped for 4WD module (PCM), Go To Pinpoint Test G .
    • System passed, retrieve and record the continuous diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), erase the continuous DTCs and carry out the 4WD module (PCM) self test.

Quad bike engine


kawasaki brute force 750 will crank for like 3 to 4 seconds and then loose its spark u turn the key off and turn bak on and will crank again and then u have to repeat this over and over wont stay runing
