Check Engine Light

have you ever changed the plugs, wires, rotor, distributor cap?it just may need a tune up. check under the cap for any signs of electrical corrosion or cracks or moisture, when was the last time the engine oil was changed? sludge in a engine will also trigger codes which will give you a check engine light even something as simple as a loose gas cap or a worn gasket on the gas cap will trigger a code

My car smells flooded and runs ragged and misses sometimes

have a code check done on your car to see what the code is.its not uncommon to get bad gas at some stations and also at this time of weather the gas companys are gradually changing from summer gas to winter gas with different additives for the change in weather and temperature.this can cause some problems until the weather completely changes or they get the mixture could have plugged fuel filter as well.also when was the last time you had a tune-up done as this can affect it as well.had one person when asked said they had a tune-up done 8 months ago and about 10,000 kil ago turns out the plugs were completely shot and it was actually a1.5 ago and 35,000kil ago when they checked into it.

Some body stolen the fuel gas cap frome my car,i drive 2 day w/out cap.when i see that im buy new gas cap,but tha chek engine come in on,what can i do to solve this problem?thanks

One of the problems that trigger a check engine light is either a faulty gas cap, gas cap not on all the way or no gas cap. Once you replace the gas cap you should be able to reset your check engine light or it may automatically adjust itself.

My service engine light keep coming on once i reach high speeds over 60 mph

This is a problem that affects many cars and trucks. Usually it is a matter of a tune up. When the sensor detects that the motor is running rough it tells you to service the engine. On my truck this happens at 55mph and above. I really can't feel or hear any roughness, but there is a slight hesitation. So I get a tune up and that solves the problem.
On my Sentra I get a continuous light due to a gas tank cap that won't quite seal good enough to create the required vacuum for EPA standards. Sometimes replacing the cap will solve this problem.

Hope this Helps,

2004 Dodge Intrepid Check Engine Light & Bad Fuel Mileage

If it has never had plugs changed, i would suggest it. It can make a big difference.

Labor time is .8 hrs + 6 plugs = $80 - $150.

Take your car to a parts place and they will usually check and clear your light for free.

Firestone likes to up-sell everything, $650 is way too much for a basic tune up.

2005 chevy cobalt check engine light

make sure the gas cap is on tight. vapor recovery system depends on the closure of the gas cap. if that did not solve your problem, I would suggest to get a new gas cap first, before going to the dealer or any repair shop for a turn-up.

Do you remember by chance speed vs RPM before & after work done? for example : before was 2000 RPM @ 60 MPH. Now 2200 RPM @ 60MPH ? May be coincidence, and transmission not shifting to overdrive or high gear.
