I have a 54 plate golf tdi it wont start but when you take the oil filler cap off it starts but you have exhaust smoke comeing out the filler cap hole ive already stripped the egr valve and cleaned it any...


Hi there?
It sounds like the EGR valve is stuck open letting the exhaust fumes enter the engine. Since the exhaust smoke has no oxygen then the engine won't start whout oxygen (fresh air). Disconnect the pipe going to the inlet manifold and see if the engine starts. If it starts then you need a new EGR valve.

I am trying to replace the front section of the exhaust system of a VW Golf 1.9 TDI (52 plate), but I am having great difficulty getting access to the last bolt that secures the exhaust to the manifold....


THERE ARE SPECIAL WRENCHES FOR THIS YOU CAN BUY. SOME TIMES YOU HAVE TO REMOVE AN COVER ON THE TRANNY ON THE RIGTH SIDE ,THEN YOU GET ACCES TOO THE UNDER SIDE OF EXHAUST PIPE

Where is the 02 sensor on my 2.0


For 1994 Volkswagen Golf 2.0L SFI 4cyl the Oxygen Sensor is located: Under vehicle, passenger side, below seating area, front of catalytic converter, mounted in exhaust pipe

Where is the lamber (or Lamba) sensor


Just follow the exhaust pipe from the engine to a first cataliser.The lambda sensor is on a pipe.Next to him is a connector box.

start at the top of the exhaust pipe,going down to the first box(cat converter) you will see a wired nut fixed to the pipe This is the lambda probe.

Yellow warning light coming on that looks like exhaust pipe


You need a code scanner hooked up to it to find out why that light is on. If you have an autozone near you,go there they will hook one up for you. Takes about 30 to 40 seconds. If not call around.
