Good day... from the battery just trace the positive wiring that goes to the starter. from there you will be in the right path then you can start removing the starter using the necessary tools, remember to fit the starter carefully to fit the gearings. hope this helps, have a nice day.

Starter spins wont turn eng over


I have owned a few Toyota vehicles including a 4 runner with this problem---the ( I call it) solinoid motor which is on the starter will stick--bad and considering you have to remove the starter--buy a new one that comes with that part as well---not sure if yours is exactly the same but a 20 minute job to get that starter out--last one I replaced in my 4 runner was just over 100 dollars rebuilt.

1986 toyota 4-runner.. Just replaced starter. Battery charged. Still not starting. What to try next?


ignition fuse first, the fusible link, are all the wires connected to the starter ? any corrosion on the battery post ?

Starter removal on a 1990 toyota 4 runner. Where


it is not fun w/o lift look behind passenger wheel you will need to raise front end remove wheel ,remove skid pan,and of course battery ends if 4wd I highly reccomend a lift good luck and please rate this

where are you getting the starters from in my experience starters and alternators, etc. don't last long from advance and autozone

it sounds likem you have a rod knocking in your motor i dont know if its a known problem or not but it does sound like a rod trying to go out

Low or no Transmission Oil, or
The Torque Converter gone bad, or
The Hydraulic Pump inside the transmission driven by the Torque Converter gone bad.
