Question about 2004 Chrysler Crossfire

1 Answer

I have a 2004 Chrysler Crossfire and the dome light stays on when the switch is on to go on with the door ajar. I can only get it to go off if I switch it to not go on with doors. I tried to WD40 the door latches to clean the sensors but It has not worked. Any suggestions? Also my cent dash were the heated seat buttons are allows the buttons to say they are on but NONE of the seats heat up. There is no one part out , they are all not working. Could it be that the module behind the buttons was harmed during a stereo swap? How can this be fixed

Is the module for the heated seats located directly behind the switches. If so whats the best way to get to them? Also how do I get the sensors for the dome light? Is it very hard?

I would start by checking the wires at the module to make sure none of them were damaged and as far as the dome lights staying on means one of your door adjar switches have failed. You will need to disconnect each switch one at a time to see which one shuts off the light then replace.

The door adjar switch can pry out of the door with a flat screwdriver. Check fuse #1 and #24 under the hood fusebox and if good replace heater seat module which is located Center of Instrument Panel to the Rear of the Heated Seat Switches.

  • edwin187 Feb 04, 2010

Correct, let me know if you have more questions. Thanks

  • edwin187 Feb 04, 2010

They are right behind where the latch connects on the frame.

  • edwin187 Feb 04, 2010

Not the latch on the door, but the latch on the frame where the door latches the frame to keep it closed.......below that and by the dome light stays on it means one has failed and correct when disconnecting whatever one shuts off the lights will mean it has failed.

Use a real small screwdriver to press the tabs in while you pull it out.

  • edwin187 Feb 04, 2010

You can buy a pack of real small ones frmo your local hardware store for around $5

  • edwin187 Feb 04, 2010

When you unplug them the other doors need to be shut, do the same thing to the hatch switch.

  • edwin187 Feb 04, 2010

Ok, nevermind....this switch is backwards from most vehicles..take a wire or paperclip and jump the two wires together on the door switches, and then whatever one shuts the light off replace. Let me know, thanks.

  • edwin187 Feb 04, 2010

It wont shock you that circuit just senses ground so there is no voltage going through that. Try that and let me know, thanks.

Interior dome lights stay on.

Make sure that the thumbwheel that makes dash lights brighter/dimmer is not all the way to bright. That will turn on dome light. Check fuse block for dome light relay, pull out the relay and see if light goes out, if so try replacing the relay. Possible welded contacts? If all that doesn't work you will have to try each door switch and see if you have a bad one.

Door ajar light and buzzer stays on when I'm driving my 2006 ford focus

This problem is caused by one of the door ajar sensing switches being defective, it is a common fault in Many Ford cars and light trucks. Each door has a switch and two at the tail gate door. The switches are attached to the side of the door latch and very hard to replace, since you would most likely have to detrim at least two doors to find the bad switch the most prudent thing to do is have the dealer scan the door ajar waring system, the scan will indicate exactly which switch has the problem.

I have a 2004 Chevy impala an the door ajar stays on an the dome light will not go off why.

Sounds like a bad door switch, sometimes you can spray brake or electrical cleaners in the door switch (part of the door latch) and the switch will start working again otherwise the switch will have to be replaced

04 EXPLORER DOME LIGHT STAYS ON, DOOR ADJAR LIGHT ON, DOOR JAMB SWITCHES WORKING PROPERLY.

At least one of your door ajar switches are sticking. Try spraying rust penetrant into the latches and open and close the doors several times. If they still stay on you will have to locate which latch it is by removing the door panels and disconnecting the switches.

Having trouble with door ajar dome light staying on when door is not actually ajar?

There is a switch that connects to the door latch inside the door. They can get sticky or come loose causing your complaint. Usually it is the drivers door since that door gets used the most. The door panel has to come off to access the switch. Sometimes you can remove the dome light fuse to take care of the light and indicator until it gets repaired.

2001 Sequoia, door ajar light goes off, but dome light stays on. Door ajar light comes on with slight pressure against closed door. Can replacing the door jam switch solve this problem? Why would the door...

To temporarily solve the light problem, I taped a washer to the inside of the door where the door hits the plunger on the light switch. A permanent solution would be to drill a hole in the door at this spot and put a self taping screw in that will trigger the switch sooner. I figured out the reason the dome light stayed on is due to the courtesy light timer and the lights would have eventually gone off.

2004 crown vic interior lights stay on

Don't think you have a door ajar switch problem , more then like the lighting control module is the culprit . Does the door ajar light on the instrument cluster stay lit ?
The interior lighting can be separated into two distinct modes of operation: the courtesy lighting and the demand lighting. The lighting control module (LCM) controls all of the interior lighting in the vehicle, as described in the following text.
The front dome lamps, rear reading lamps, and instrument panel courtesy lamps, can be illuminated either by opening any of the vehicle doors (courtesy lamp function) or by depressing the headlamp switch (demand lamp function).
When any door is open, the door ajar switch grounds an input to the LCM which then sends power to the courtesy lamps. The voltage sent to the courtesy lamps gradually increases from 0 volts to 12 volts within 500 ms (± 50 ms), to achieve the theater lighting effect. When the door(s) are closed the door ajar switch(es) break(s) the ground to the LCM input which then gradually reduces the power from 12 volts to 0 volts within 5 seconds. (± .5 second).
When the headlamp switch is depressed it grounds an input to the LCM which in turn sends 12 volts to the front dome lamps, rear reading lamps, and instrument panel courtesy lamps. When the headlamp switch is depressed a second time, it breaks the ground to the LCM input which then ceases to send power to the front dome lamps, rear reading lamps, and instrument panel courtesy lamps.

The battery saver will disrupt power to the courtesy lamps after 10 minutes, the demand lamps after 30 minutes, and the headlamps after 10 minutes. Turning the ignition switch to the RUN or ACC position will terminate the battery saver feature by disabling the interrupt timers and reinstate power to the lamps.
