Basically this means that an oxygen sensor in bank 1 detected a lean condition (too much oxygen in the exhaust). On V6/V8/V10 engines, Bank 1 is the side of the engine that has cylinder #1. Note: PO171 is very similar to PO174, and your vehicle may show both codes at the same time. Symptoms You will more than likely not notice any drivability problems, although there may be symptoms such as a lack of power, detonation (spark knock), and/or a hesitation/surge on acceleration. Causes A code P0171 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:

  • The MAF (Mass Air Flow) Sensor is dirty or faulty. Note: The use of "oiled" air filters (K&N, etc.) can cause the MAF to become dirty if the filter is over-oiled
  • There could be a vacuum leak downstream of the MAF sensor.
Possible Solutions Possible solutions include:
  • In the vast majority of cases, simply cleaning the MAF sensor does the trick. Consult your service manual for it's location if you need help. I find it's best to take it off and spray it with electronics cleaner or brake cleaner. Make sure you are careful not to damage the MAF sensor, and make sure it's dry before reinstalling
  • Inspect all vacuum and PCV hoses, replace if necessary
  • Check for a dirty fuel filter and proper fuel pressure

SOURCE: wont stay tight wiper arm

The wiper arm has teeth on it that hold it the spindle, those teeth wear out and let the wiper arm flop all over. You need a new wiper arm, if it is under warranty I'd take it in, if not changing awiper arm is easy. I've seen this on several kias, and also on other foriegn cars. It is just a bad design in my opinion.

SOURCE: 2005 kia rio will not start with jumper cables

The clicking sound is either coming from the starter relay or the starter solenoid switch. If the starter makes no click then it has to come off and get new brusjhes put in it or have the solenoid replaced. You can check it by jumping the post with the battery cable fastened to it to the smaller post with the small wire on it either with a small screwdriver or a piece of wire.If it goes then, then you need the relay,if it does nothing then you need to fix the starter.

Code P0171 light on when the car kia rio 2004 work in gas

P0171 is the code for "Fuel System Too Lean." Which means that there is too much air (and too little fuel) in the combustion chamber.

There are quite a few things that could cause this code:
- Faulty fuel delivery system (fuel pump)
- Clogged fuel injectors ($3 fuel injector cleaner might clear it up)
- Faulty fuel injectors
- Leak in intake or exhaust system
- Faulty Mass Air Flow Sensor
- Faulty Throttle Position Sensor
