I have a 2004 Ford Ranger and the Overdrive has gone out. I experienced the same issue as you. Is your overdrive flashing on the instrument panel?

I have cleaned and flushed the transmission three times. I am now going to replace the throttle position module to see if that solves the issue.

I have a 2002 ranger super cab edge with the 4.0 v6 5speed. I have the exact same problem. Mine started about a 6 months ago, every now and again it would act up but as time has gone on it has gotten worse. I replaced the coil pack thinking that might be the problem with no solution.
About the same time my cigarette lighter on the driver side blew a fuse. I replaced to have it blow about 6 weeks ago. I tried to replace last week #17 fuse on the pannel inside the door, and it blows every time it touches. I know there is a short in the dash, but would this cause the problem?
I've had ford's all my life and I am disappointed in the quality of my ranger. Any help would be great.
Thanks and have a good day :)

What would cause my 2000 ranger to buck between 45 and 50 mph going up hill

Yea! I'd like to see the answer to this also!
My Ford Explorer 2000 does the same thing going up hill. Especially with a loaded trailer on.
Local mechanic had it for the day and couldn't put his finger on it.
I can alleviate the problem by turning the AUTO Trak knob to 4x4 Hi while driving and the jerking stops.
I'll keep an eye here to see what others think
Cheers

Why won't my 2003 ford ranger 3.0 accelerate past 40km/h

Not sure what you have determined the truck is doing

If the rpm flairs the trans is slipping & done

If it won't go over 40 mph the exhaust converter is damaged
& blocked

Not much you can do,need professional help

96 escort 1.9 manual jerking while accelerating 96 escort 1.9 manual

best advice is dont go 40mph in 5th gear... if you are going up a hill at 40mph in 5th gear i have no doubt that it is jerking, your putting too much stress on the engine. shift up to 4th or 3rd you will be fine. 5th gear is an overdrive gear. 55+mph

Jerking from take off

It could be that you have some free play from wear and tear in the universal joints that are located at both ends of your main driveshaft. My 2001 ranger 4x4 does the same thing; it also starts to shake pretty hard if I go more than 65 mph. My U-joints definitely need replacing. I would have the universal joints on the main driveshaft checked or replaced. It could also be an excessively worn pressure plate ( automatic clutch). If it's idling higher than around 600 rpm after the engine is warmed up I would check the idle air control valve or for a vacume leak elsewhere near the intake manifold. I hope this helps : )

Ford Contour (2.5 V6 manual) jerks badly with throttle modulation

Check the lower motor mount near the drivers side. This usually is a problem with these cars. It costs about 140.00 or so depending where you reside. Also check the passenger side hanger bearing on the CV shaft if this is loose it will cause jerking too.

My 2002 Ford Ranger Edge V-6 is misfiring after it warms up when trying to accelerate or under a load, going uphill. The vehicle jerks around 2500 rpm and above 45 mph. It doesn?t **** as bad at higher...

havent a clue here ,one cylinder now another missing ,only one thing comes to mind here and thats the coil pack ,check the voltage across the battery with engine running at 1500rpm and if its higher than 15.5 volts of their abouts then the alternator regulator is playing up and this would cause problems with the coil pack or the ECU ,also the radio could blow and lots of bulbs.Other that this i would need to get my greasy hands on it and give the magic hammer treatment
