2003 Dodge Ram 3500 left turn signal problems / trailer

Anyways, all the electrical works on the truck. The problem is with the trailer plug. There is no power going to the left side turn or brake lights.

I initially thought is was a bad ground, (because historically, that's usually the fail poin on trailer electrical) and even though this is a brand new travel trailer, I checked it anyways. When that wasn't the case I checked all the trailer electrical, by having someone else's truck connect to it.

The problem is definately within the towing package of the truck itself. I've tested under the dash and the harness all the way upto the connecter under the cab behind the wheel-well.

Some people have commented that it is PCB within the fuse box itself.

Well let me shed some light on this issue. I have the same problem. Trailer connection from truck does not have power to left turn signal and left brake light. I just got back from the dealership and $100.00 labor charge. My problem is the TIPM (Fuse Box for short) and FCM (little silver module hooked to the Fuse Box on the left hand side of the fuse box). $910.00 for the parts and Chrysler doesn't have any in stock. 4-6 weeks to maybe fill a back order. I am currently researching an alternative way to fix this issue. I will let you know.

I have a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 with the same problem- no left turn signal or brake light for the trailer tow package. Since I needed it to work for a camping trip I first replaced the 7 blade plug on my vehicle which did absolutely no good. I came to the conclusion that it is the Trailer Tow Left Turn Relay which is bad and there isnt an easy way to replace it. What I did to "Fix" the problem was tapped into the left turn signal on the vehicle and ran a jumper to the left turn signal on the 7 blade plug. Still didn't have a brake light so I got a diode soldered onto another jumper and ran another wire from the vehicle left brake light to the 7 blade plug left turn signal output wire. Wrapped everything with electrical tape and it seems to work. Very disappointed with Dodge for NOT making this easy and inexpensive to replace item.

im curious why the diode..I tried doing the same thing but with out it. Then when I flipped on my turn signal all the light started blinking. So I found the brake light wire and jumpered it in..Still no turn signal on the camp trailer?

I agree it could be a blown fuse, but have you purchsed the right connector for that year model? you shouldnt have a prob cos the plug connector is pretty much the same for this body style truck.

I am having the problem with my right trailer brake signal! Dodge doesn't seem to be producing repair parts to fix this as they have been on national backorder for over half a year. A mechanic informed me that it is the FCM for my 04 Ram 2500 Hemi that is the problem. It could also be the PCB but we'll see if Dodge ever makes some repair parts?

I am having same problem left turn/stop light on trailer only. Turns out on 2003 thru 2004.5 dodge built the relay into the bottom of the fuse box. To fix it you have to replace the fuse box $450.00 from dealer. I have been looking for a used one no luck so far. A 2004 will not fit a 2003 has to be the same year. Dodge fixed this in 2005 making them replaced able. A little later for use.

I have a 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 with the same problem. My travel trailer is a brand new 2009 Gulfstream and the left turn signal does not work any longer on it. When I bought the Dodge in 2009 it did, I picked up the camper from storage and it stopped working. I have torn the whole truck apart tracking the problem. I am 99% sure it is in the computer.

It is indeed the computer module. I am expereincing this problem for the second time in my 2003 Ram 2500. It appears that the fine module lasts about 5 years a run before failure on the left side relay.

Check the lug on the truck to be sure it doesn't move when the plug is connected. I had one that read 12 volts when I tested it but would slide in or move when I plugged into it. Where is the turn signal fuse on a 2001 Dodge 3500 diesel truck? I changed the flasher and that didn't fix the problem of no turn signals or four way flashers.

This problem sounds like one I have faced several times on my 2001 diesel Dodge. The culprit has been a fuse under the hood in the fuse panel on the driver's side, up near the steering column. Look through the clear top of the fuses you see, chances are excellent that you will find a green one with the little electrode "popped". This is common when you plug a round trailer plug in upside down, or otherwise ground a powered circuit for the lights through the trailer plug. Simply pull and replace, I keep a couple spares in the glove box because of this problem. Also, if you use the truck to go to the auto parts store, keep in mind that you have no brake lights either. Hope this works for you.

LEFT TRAILER TURN SIGNAL DOES NOT WORK

I'd get a 12vdc test light if you don't have one already & start from plug, and keep probing back from there. It may be as simple as a bad connection under truck where joined into harness.
