Question about 2003 Nissan Altima

What is wrong with my 2003 Nissan altima when I am driving and it revs up and then back down without pushing on the gas...and then it will rev up and sometimes die? It also dies while sitting at lights and will start in the morning and then die???

Hi needs to see a mechanic and advise the mechanic to check the "SERVO" this the one controlling the fuel that coming into your engine.

take to dealership , that also is a recall problem with alot of altimas , they need to flush system and check water valve , got mine fixed working great ever since , never hesitate to ask dealership about recalls , they have to fix for free

When i push the gas peddal it doesn't rev up.


is the check engine light on?? you most likely have a problem with the throttle assembly. It is electronic, not cable driven, so that's why you can rev it. Nissan has had some problems with those. Normaly code P0507 ICS system comes up. But I don't know if your check engine light is on, but it should be, if throttle failed. There is also a switch (electronic) by the gas pedal, which sends all the signals to ECM to be processed and then to the throttle assembly. But those switches (by gas pedal) have been bulletproof. So I would be looking a the throttle asembly again. Good luck.
