There is a hole witch is probably covered by plastic on your rear bumper. look and you should see a square drive shaft. place your spare tire kit arm on it and tun counter clock wise and your spare should slowly start dropping to the ground. hope this helps and god bless.

no, it did not, did everything right, but, the tire would not drop at all. The cable would not loosen at all, not one bit. Never did. Had to tow car have cable cut, entire tire cut off.

How do i remove the spare tire from my 2003 honda pilot?

I dealt with same issue and it drove me crazy! I finally realized once you take off the flat tire, use one of the lug nuts and place it over the the hole in the back hatch. Then you can use your factory spare tire kit arm to lower the spare. Hope that helps.

Need to change the tire on my 2008 chevy tahoe but never received the jack and accessories with the truck. don't know how to release the spare and can't get the covers off the lug nuts....please help.

Never recieved the jack and accessories? or just don't know where they are? If it is the latter, the subject is covered in the Owners Manual starting on page 5-86. It explains where the equipment is located as well as how to use it. If you would like to download a PDF version of the Owners Manual, you can get it here. 2008 Tahoe Owners Manual

If you really don't have the equipment in your vehicle, the only thing I know to tell you is to call a local repair shop for some assistance. Then you need to get with your local dealer to acquire the equipment that your vehicle is supposed to have onboard.

Spare tire removal 2003 gmc sierra how to release secondary latch? owners manual is no help. cable comes down spare comes down about 3 inchs thats all

You must unwind (counter clockwise) with the tire tools that come with the truck, sometimes the cable gets jammed on the spool it may take 2 people to get it loose, one must pull down on the spare while the other unwinds it. Try not to get under the tire as it is heavy.

I tried to remove spare tire but it will only drop about 2 inches which is not enough to remove it. Any suggestions?

Check your owners manual .There is a saftey catch that will need to be realased by using your bottle jack and tire stops that come with your truck. If you dont have a owners manual. What you can try is taking a floor jack and a socket place it under the spairtire right in the center where the cable holds the tire in place. start jacking it up until the socket hits the square part in the center once the socket is aligned with the square part continue to jack up it should release it . Its a stupid system but it will work if the cable wont allow the tire to drop .I drive a tow truck and this has happened to me several times with people who have this type of system on a GM.

How do you remove spare tire from 2002 tahoe in case of emergency

look next the the license plate, should be a beveled hole for you to insert the extension tube, of your jack handle through, if you look through the hole you will see a crank mechanism, it has a flat slot in it, if you still have your owners manual it should help with the location and operation

Spare tire Cable assembly

Well catch 22 here, you have to remove the tire to get at the cable reel, have it cut off with a high speed cut off wheel.
