What year engines will interchange with a 1997 s10

The 2.2L engine is fairly universal. You may need to use the original crankshaft position sensor, however. The 96 had a different connector than the 97 engines had. You should not have too much trouble swapping out this engine. Chevrolet is really good about not changing too many items for each year.

96 s10 with 2.2 4 cyl. got code 1406 which is egr valve pintle circuit. Would this cause rough rich idle, bogging under full throttle even in nuetral and no power. Only code that come up is 1406. Thanks...

pintle position on EGR valve is incorrect if voltages are correct on EGR connector replace EGR valve if voltage readings are wrong at connector replace ECM both are found on ebay for under 75 bucks
