Do not have key fob or owners manual. Have a key and was not informed how to disarm system with only the key. Is this possible?

Thanks for your prompt response. Not certain if the security indicator on the dash is operational or the vehicle is not equipped with a security system indicator. Can you advise if the security system has an indicator light?

After turning key all the way to the left and then all the way to the right, does the key remain at right position, approximately 2 P.M. to open door? Or return key to center of Lock at 12 P.M. position? Am concerned about frowning neighbors on Jeep alarm!

Mike the answer was partially correct. Thanks. After triggering the alarm again for the third time I closed the drivers door and unlocked the passenger door by turning left and then right after opening the door. For some reason the alarm was not armed any longer. Thanks a lot. Doug

Yes, you can disarm your factory alarm system with only the key. To do this, put the key in the drivers side door lock, turn it all the way to the left and then to the right all the way. This will unlock and disarm the "original factory" alarm system. Also try locking and unlocking the rear hatch. This should reset your security system. I left my car garaged over the very cold winter. When I eventually tried to start the vehicle the infra red key fob would not open the central locking to disarm the immobiliser. There was also no power...

depending on the type of security system, it is sometimes necessary to re-sync the keyfob to the car after a flat battery on the car or the fob.
this is normally just a matter of turning the key to the IGN position and pressing the button on the key fob. you may have to hold the button for a second or two but this will normally re-sync the system.

if it does not work then you will have to sent more detailed information on the security system. ie factory fitted or aftermarket system with make and type (normally found on the siren unit under the bonnet.

hope this helps

My 2003 Taurus wan't start, but after a while friends told me that is anti theift securty. How I could disarm anti theift securty.?

If this is the case, you have to contact the dealership to get the code. Make sure you have all your vehicle inofrmation. The code may be in your owner manual also.

I have a 2003 Oldsmobile Silhouette. I replaced two key fobs and now cannot start the van. I think it is probably a Passkey III or security issue. What do I do now?

If you have the owners manual the re-program procedure will be in it. I have a 1999, the manual NOTES if the remote lock control transmitter is lost, damaged or fails to operate while the Content Theft Deterrent system is armed it must be disarmed for the engine to run while programed in MODE 2; the key will no longer disarm the system.

My Toad alarm will not recognize both of my Fobs for the system. I don't want to open my car manually because i have no way of knowing if the alarm will turn off when its going off with my fob and can't...

I don't see where you have any choice but to unlock the doors with your key. If your fobs have good batteries, then the problem is with the alarm system, which can't be accessed until you unlock the doors. I'm not sure what the procedure is on your particular alarm, but with most alarms, you disarm the system by first turning the key in the door lock to the left and then to the right to unlock the door. Turning the key to the left first, disarms the system. Some aftermarket alarms will have a button hidden under the driver side dash that will disarm the alarm.

How do I disconnect the security system? My truck won't disengage & I can't start it.

The security module is located in the dash behind the glove compartment. You cannot disconnect the security module without bypassing the starter wire. The system disarms by unlocking the front doors or tailgate with the key or using the remote key fob. The switches on the door latches are notorious for going bad on the grand cherokees. These switches are inside the doors attached to the lock cylinders and cost about 40 bucks at the chrysler dealership. You can also get a replacement remote fob on ebay but they are around 50 bucks and you will need the owners manual for the Jeep to program it.
