Question about 2006 Mazda 6

1 Answer

System code says: "System is too lean"

I have a 2000 Mazda Pro - mileage is approximately 188,669. After getting a radiator replaced by my mechanic I noticed a check engine signal on the car later that day. Before I left the mechanic that same day he told me he taped up the Throttle tube because it was cracked(however I would also like to state that the check engine signal did often appear prior to this but would turn off by itself on numerous occassions in 2008 and 2009).

Today, I went to Advance Auto the code stated: "System too lean." I've noticed that my car when Idle reacts very rough pulling and on one occasion shut down when at a stop sign - this "idle/rough resistance" happens especially when I have my foot on the brake at an idle position at a stop sign or red light etc.

I've had a fuel injection system cleaning done and also a tune up last year. I am not sure what the problem is. Do you think that repairing this problem will be expensive??? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

First off,the intake tube needs to be replaced,to rule out any intake pressure loss. The fuel pressure needs to be checked,if the fuel pressure is to low, just a little,it will cause this code, and will also cause the symptoms you are having. Also check the fuel filter ,just to make sure the fuel filter is not restricted, and replaced if it is.Anytime, the o2 indicates lean ,the fuel pressure is almost always the problem.I hope this was helpful, and if so,please let us know, thank you.

The check engine light is a warning to the driver that the computer has found something that could affect engine performance or emissions, including gas mileage.
You would need to get it scanned again and use the code or codes to find the problem.
