I would start by checking the ground wires or the big psative wires going to the altinator and starter they might have roted off or got loose.

Have you load tested the battery, fully charged doesn't mean it is any good, believe me on that.

Hi i have a 2001 au sedan and it wont turn over.Took battery out too charge it and still wont turn over. All lights are working so not sure now.Can anyone help please?

Just the lights coming on is not enough. Fully charge your battery again and take it to a parts store. They will hook it up and see if it is good or not. Your voltage output fully charged should be at 13.6. I am guessing you have a bad battery.

Can a battery read 12volts when engine doesn't start and if lights get turned on voltage drops to 3 volts does this mean the battery is no good

Your battery is definately suspect.Give it a good charge and check it again. If it drops like that when you turn on the lights replace it.A fully charged battery in good condition will read about 14.2V when fully charged. When you turn the key to start it will drop to about 11 and come back up when you turn the key off.

My 2005 escape will not start i had the battery fully charged but the alarm sound is very low, when turning the key all the gages jump, check engine light and battery light had been on prior to shutting...

Fully charging a bad battery is a waste of time as the bad cell discharges internally. Best have a load test done on the battery to eliminate it first.

The van wont start, no lights on dash except for the seatbelt and open door light. when you turn the key it makes a click in the dash. the battery is fully charged and the terminals are tight.

How do you know the battery is good, fully charged may not be the case if the battery has a failed internal post connection. Have the battery load tested at a shop or a parts store.

Battery died after braking lights woulnt turn off had battery recharged now it wont crank also replaced 120v fused

Hi,
Sorry to hear your having trouble,
First let's get brake lights to turn off. For now - just remove the bulbs DO NOT DRIVE THE CAR LIKE THIS - -this is just for repair purposes.

Now be sure the battery is fully charged. Install the battery and turn the head lights on. They should be VERY BRIGHT. If the battery is truly charged to it's fullest.

You do not say what kind of car so I will post this and ask you to confirm you are attempting this much - please do this and get back to me:

1- Place the fully charged battery in the automobile.
2- Set the emergency brake at it's fullest
3- With all lights off and the brake light bulbs removed [ for test purpose]
4- Place the transmission in neutral
5-Turn the key and start the vehicle.
6- Get back to me with further comment or question.

Thanks

I have a 2003 dodge durango v8 and the motor will not start. When I turn the key the engine makes no sound at all. The lights in the interior work, as well as the keyless entry. Is this a battery problem...

The problem is most likely the starter, but you should ensure that the battery is fully charged before proceeding. The battery doesn't need to be fully charged to run just about all the interior lights and the head lights, but attempting to crank the engine is a large current draw, and can drop voltage quickly on a partially discharged battery.

If the battery is fully charged, continue to checking the starter.
