Question about 2006 Honda CR-V

2006 crv 2002 willnot start with turning key willstart with tow or short pushallparts of fuel (diesei)line cleaned pump&inj.test ok engine will turn when key is used key test ok test show lack of fuel pressure when engine starts revs build very slowely but not!!!full I have spent alot of cash on this without any luck please help almost 70 years tku

    ref. crv i had flel pump &injectors tested by diesel experts the proved fine or so the said could the fuel rail or its sencor be fauty there is w preasur at inj. ne pr. said hnda 2002 cc engine will not put pressure on inj untill engine starts tku tony

Hi if when engine starts and warms up it then runs ok ? then starts ok rest of day ? considering vehicles age/milage ? have you checked heater glow plugs ? you only need one glow plug to fail/ leak to earth on cyl head and this will knock out/ leak power to earth of all other g/plugs also consider the possibility that the engine coolant sensor ( not the temp sender) has gon faulty this sensor gives ecu signal to provide excess fuel for cold starting on cold starts and auto cuts off as coolant heats up? rather like using choke control on carbs years ago ? also diesels used to have excess fuel device on pumps on trucks in days gone by ? whick assisted in cold starting hope this info helps?

    hi again thanks ror reply much appreciated from what you now describe it does sound like fuel shortage resulting in the slow revup when engine does start ? please bear with me on this on most diesel fuel injector pumps there is a fuel stop solenoid which when ignition is on this solenoid opens by electrical wire energising thus allowing fuel to flow thro fip then when ignition is turned off the solenoid closees/shuts off flow of fuel into fip but the fip does not empty just stops and has fuel in fip ok ? now in the past i have had the similar problem on various diesels and turned out that the solenoid was not opening fully when ign on found on occasions that rust prevented piston/seal in solenoid prevented piston/solenoid from opening fully resulting in pump starvation of fuel and also not reving fully from idle ? on other occasions the solenoid has a rubber seal on piston that has parted from piston resulting also in seal sealing the flow to fip even tho the solenoid appears to click indicating it is working ? this may be your fault ?? the solenoid is rather like a temp sender unit on engine but bigger in size and has a single wire attached that energises when ign on and clicks to indicate such this solenoid is a screw in to fuel inj pump on top check wire is secure etc then remove wire and unscrew solenoid you may find one of the above faults mentioned ? or there may be debri in the bottom of port solenoid fits to ? if you wish to check connect wire to solenoid then holt solenoid body to earth while assistant turns ign on you can then see if silenoid piston is working / opening fully ? these solenoids do occasionally fail in this way and also on occasions the engine will not stop when ign turned off this is due to solenoid sticking open or most commenly the piston seal has punctured allowing flow so pay particular attention to the seal when checking hope this helps and i have tried to explain clearly the operation ? best wishes

    hi again the symptoms you have especially the not starting on key but will with push or shart tow ?? reminds me of such a case with a ford transit some years ago the fim that sent vehicle in after trying just about every thing their mechanic could and this had same symptoms would start ok with push/tow but would only spin over on key with no start then whilst investigating work done already i noticed when operating starter with key it did turn over but no starting then suddenly noticed the engine was turning over backwards ! on further inspection of starter motor which looked origional but seemed to have been off recently as bolts/leads had been cleaned and the starter motor rotation was wrong the firm was notified and had no history of starter being replaced or repaired so with a new starter moter with correct rotation it started ok on key however who had switched starter motor ? we never found out so may be worth making sure your engine is rotating clockwise when key is used ???

did you do the 60k tune up yet, this repeats ever 60k miles.

then see if you can save the STALL , with a fast right foot action.
yes, and has full power up any hill at that time, its not the fuel pump.
stalls have 4 major causes and 4 tests..
you can do the tests. or spend a fortune guessing, its your car and your bread (cash).
one very common cause is the EGR sticking open , the main EGR valve.
other:
1: 12vdc lost to the EFI system, the dash goes dead. lost elect. power.
2: lost compression , can happen hot engine only.
3: bad spark.
4: bad fueling.
there are simple tools and simple tests for each
do you want to test, or gue$$?

(EGR sticking or iSC sticking both can be clean before spending big cash guessing parts)

1990 olds 98 suddenly dies. starter spray into inj. cover starts it but then immediately dies again. fuel pump and cannister filter ok. new module filter off inj. line under hood. still won't start. w


You cant check fuel pressure that way. You have to connect a fuel pressure guage to the fuel rail at the schrader valve. It should have 30-40psi when ignition is turned on. Injectors not functioning properly will cause a misfire Sounds like a fuel pump or fuel going out.

For starters if the battery connections are not clean the battery doesn't receive the correct current to charge it so take care of that and see if the problem is solved. Also if the connections are corroded the battery is probably near the end of it's life span. Many outlets which sell batteries will test your battery for no charge.

fuel pump relay . you should hear the fuel pump run for 5 seconds as soon as you turn the key on .after that the cranking sensor takes over when engine it turned over to start

You said you checked the fuses,relays and coils and they were okey. Then you said no power to coils or fuel pump. What tests where performed and how?

Truck will turn over but won't start


When you are trying to start the truck, does the theft light on the dash flash rapidly ?
- This would be a problem with the key used, PATS is not recognizing it as a programmed key, try another key
- Could be a problem with the PATS transceiver if 2nd programmed key does the same thing, wait on confirm to get into this, kind of long.

Have you checked the Fuel Inertia switch in the passenger side kick panel ( button reached from the top, needs to be pressed down ) ?

When you turn the key from off to run ( do not start ) do you hear the fuse pump run for ~ 2 seconds ? Should be able to verify at the schrader valve at the fuse rail for pressure ( safety glasses and a rag )
- Fuel pump fuse is one to check, Engine compartment fuse panel, fuse # 10 & Fuse # 18
- Fuel pump relay could be a problem, can swap with a trailer tow relay from the battery charge function ( if the trailer tow package is installed ).
- If both of these are no change, turn the truck to the run position ( do not start ) and hit the bottom of the fuel tank with a rubber mallet. Could be the fuel pump is plugged or on its way out.

Other item to check, is the last time the fuel filter way changed.

You have an issue with your throttle actuator, try cleaning in the area with carb cleaner but more than likely the actuator will have to be replaced

97 gmc pickup, 5.7 eng, fuel pump not operating,


What you need to do is check you fuel pressure. Go to a local auto parts store and buy a fuel injection pressure tester. The pressure fitting is on the top of the motor its a 3/8 ish sized metal line and has a screw on fitting like a tire valve does. This line comes up from the back of the motor to the right of the distributor and goes down into the intake. Make sure to have a rag handy to catch the fuel seepage. After you connect the pressure tester turn the key on and off three times and read the gage you should have atleast 58 pounds of pressure. If you have 56 pounds it won't run because the fuel injectors are a poppit valve style and need atleast 58 pounds of pressure to operate.

its a loose or damaged connection just trace it back & check its clean & tight with a good earth or ground aswell
