Is there a timing belt and performance difference on the 1.6L 16V engine type ? i was told that there's something to do with E/I position? sidekick/vitara 1994 lwb 4 doors if it matters.

no, the E and marks are for 2 engines.
E mark for G16B (16valve MPI engine)
I and E marke are for the twin cam engine, (see link for deeper facts)
see?
if you use the wrong marks, the engine will not run
and compression falls by 1/2 from 180 psi to 90 or less.

the G16A is different 8v head, yours is the 95HP, 16valve head.

covers all ways to do it right and wrong.

Vitara just stopped

if it is over 60.000 miles or 100.00 klms it may be a broken timing belt
you can check that by seeing if the cam shaft is turning when you crank it over
run the fault codes for problems as ti can be cam/crank position sensors failed , immobilizer operated , fuel problem, ignition module failure
first check is easy, the next check ( fault codes ) is a must to not waste money

Suzuki vitara pedals assembly

this is only in one place.
the suzuki GV FSM , the factory service manual.
go to pick a part, and take one apart, and see, that reverse is same a apart, but the splines have index marks,
so did you mess with the spines? on ends of pedal shafts?
bad news. most suzuki have a dot (looks like a center punch mark)
that alignes with the lever slot on end of spline.

Had to change water pump, had to take off timing belt off,now it won't quit missing do you know for the timing belt, how it suppose to be set

I would definitely recommend not to start the engine if you have the least suspicion that your valve cam is not turning in accordance with the crank shaft. You might as well get a valve hitting the piston and then...GAME OVER.

Most japan made cars, including GEO, ( in other areas of the world called suzuki vitara) you must have noticed a plastic cover on the crank shaft. There should be some marks on it. You must twist your shaft to fit that marks, ( usually the longest one or the zero marked) and bring your valve shaft at the marks mentioned at the sides of you cam gears ( the ones that get motion by the timing belt). Most manufactures have arrows indicating the exhaust side of the engine.
Now if yours is the one with OHC, ( single overhead cam) the gear should be marked to point right up.

I can tell you more if I know the type of your engine...
