Question about 2005 Ford Expedition

1 Answer

On my 2001 Dodge Durango, I was able to turn the ignition switch 3 times and the check engine light codes would display on the dash where the electronic mileage display was. Can something similar be done with an '05 Expedition so I can get the codes?

Engine shut off while towing up a hill.

You'll need to have the computer scanned for trouble codes then go from there. If the check engine light was on for more than a minute there should be trouble codes stored.
The EVAP leak would not cause the engine to stall.

2001 Dodge Durango won't start

There is a cube relay next to the fuses for the ignition. If it goes bad the engine will turn over, but it will not start. There are two large (~1"x1"x1") relays next to each other. One is for the electric radiator fan relay and one for the ignition relay. When my ignition relay went bad and I switched the two...the engine turned over but would not start. This does not explain the other issues, but who knows they may not be related.

My check engine light came on and the engine rpms seem to be jumping like the engine is missing. It doesn;t do it as much when I take the overdrive off. All of my fluids are good.

Turn the ignition key about 4 or 5 time and a code would appear on the odometer. With that code you should be able to zero in on the problem.

On-off with ignition 3 times and you will get error code in odometer. Check the code from the internet gods, it will tell you. Probably small evaporation leak detected from loose gascap. Try removing ground from battery for 10 min, then replace. It should go away. If comes back, something more serious perhaps.

Check engine light on

Jordan:

Try doing what we call the "key dance" by turning the ignition key from off to run 3 times withing 5 seconds. Then, watch the odometer display and see if it shows a P code. If so, write this code down so you can look it up.

If there are no codes stored, the window will show pdone.

Why is my engine light on on my 2000 Dodge Durango?

you need to put your key in the ignition turn til dash lights come on dont start engine then turn it off ,do this 3 times leaving key in the power position on the 3rd time, watch your speedo and check the codes . p0700 is a tranny problem, you dont need to get it scanned at a dealer unless you need to 95% it is the speed output sensor 5 minute fix under 100 buks do it yourself. any other code check it and go on the internet cuz alot of people get ripped off and its a simple cam sensor , crank, abs, speed,etc....

My check engine light is on. The code is P0121

I believe all the Mopar OBDC codes are the same. A list of the 2001 codes were posted on a PT Cruiser site here: 2001 Chrysler codes

Your error says the throttle position sensor and MAP sensor disagree with each other

On your first listing you under 04 durango. But now it makes more sense. On that year truck i have replaced the 3-4 shift solenoid for this code many times. You have to remove the valve body from the trans. The solenoid mounted on the valvebody.
