Question about 2006 Chevrolet Malibu Maxx
2006 Malibu Maxx remotes stopped working. Replace batteries and they still do not work. What next.
Sometimes after replacing dead batteries in remotes the remote resets itself to a different code to that of the vehicle, ie the last time you used the remote it sent a signal to the system, lets say for argument sake, 123456, then the system would open when you pressed the button again as this would clarify the 123456 and close, but when you remove the battery or it stays dead for a certain period of time ( different modles vary) it will reset to factory code it might be 000000, and your vehicle is waiting for 123456 to open it, so what you have to do is reprogram the remotes to the system, you will have to ask the dealership in what sequence you have to do it, they will tell you how to reset the remotes, sorry its long winded but better explain why first so you understand the reason behind the remote, the numbers are just indications on how it works, no numbers are seen obviously this is just an example on how the system comunicates with the remotes hope this helps, most of all hope you get it lol

I had similar problem. I replaced the rubber button part of the remote control. It is cheap only 6 dollars on line.

In some auto parts stores you can check to see if your remotes are working, usually at the counter, it's small display, you put remote up to it and it will tell you the status.OR, you may need to get them programed with the vehicle. Take the remotes to the dealer and ask to have them re-programed.
