Question about 1992 Nissan Sentra 4 Door

1 Answer

I have a 92 nissan sentra automatic 1.6L and I have recently changed my plugs and plug wires but my car is still idling bad and when I go over 45mph it gets worse. I have been told it could be a burnt valve, or a clogged fuel injector, or a bad EGR..All I have to say is HELP!!

I have a 2002 nissan sentra SE-R. when the engine is really hot, it dies in idle, the idle is 600 RPM, i guess the idle is too low. So I have to rev it when im at the stop light or double pedal if i make...

Got the same make/model/year, but haven't had that problem. Does your temperature gauge run at half or above when this happens? If so, start with a cheap fix - new thermostat.

Another thing to consider is that some of the QR25DE engines equipped in the 02 Sentra SERs has an active recall on the crank position sensor. This fault would cause the check engine light to come on and the car would stall unexpectedly. It should start back up but the frequency of this will only increase without repair.

Also, no need to change plug wires, you have coil pack ignition - there is no distributor. If a coil pack is bad, you will have constant misfire and SES light.

Noise coming from timing chain!

Any abnormal noise coming from the engine needs to be investigated dealt with before it causes you extra problems and expense. If you have a worn and sloppy timing chain it will effect your valve timing and ignition timing and can possibly skip a tooth and then run really roughly so that could be your problem. But you say you have two cylinders not firing right, with the timing chain they would all be bad so it could be something else. With the engine idling take off one plug lead at a time and note the change in engine sound. If no change this is a the bad cylinder. If the two bad cylinders are adjacent you may have a blown head gasket (look for a milky residue in the oil, foaming in the radiator and overheating). Once you have tried this report back with your results and you can get more help.

Car is idling very bad even when in park just changed out spark plugs and all 4 engine coils

Try the oxygen sensor as that can cause the same rough idle as bad plugs.

92 nissan wire patern

I have a 92 Nissan congrats they are awesome cars. Me and my friend changed the rotor and cap along with the spark plugs on mine. If you lost the wire pattern I would recommend going to auto store and looking it up in the nissan car manual.
Good Luck

1991 sentra 2dr 1.6 L rough idle in park and in drive at stop

Sounds like misfire. Change spark plugs, wires, cap, rotor , fuel and air filters. Check for oil in spark plug holes. if oil found change valve cover gasket spark plug orings. they can leak oil into spark plug holes and cause misfire.

Fuel consumption problem

Change your air filter if it hasn't been changed recently. Spark plugs, plug wires and fuel filter can also make a difference.
