check all your wires on that circut for cracks breaks or places where the wire casing has worn through!! a hot spot would be your cigarette lighter or interior lights.

Might be an exposed power wire to your lights grounding out. check your headlight wires for this.

Why does the fuse for the dash and tail lights blow when I turn on the lights? It started when driving a few miles on the freeway.

Ben, it could be something as simple as a bad tail light bulb or socket shorting out. Check all tail light bulbs, sockets and wiring for damage burnt etc.
Does it blow immediately, or when you turn lights on, or when you use left or right signal, or when brake is applied? this can help trace problem.

One of the light fixtures has a grounded power wire. Examine all light fixtures closely for bare or grounded wires. If you find nothing, trace the wiring harness to switch paying close attention to places where the wire harness passes through holes on the body for the harness. Any contact with the steel vehicle body from a power wire has the potential to cause a short, which will blow fuses faster than you can replace them. Start with the outside tail and marker lights. Also look for broken filaments inside the bulbs, as a broken filament touching another filament or wire inside the bulb can do the same thing. Good luck.

1992 dash and tail lights not working

Im having the same problem now. Let me know if you find a solution please. By jumping the orange wire to the red, my dash and taillights came on but i tried wiring them together with a fuse connected to the new wire and crimped both ends so I didn't have to cut and splice since there's not much wire to work with.. and well the lights would come on but blow the fuse everytime I turned them off

I have an 1989 mazda b2200 pickup it just started blowing fuses every time i turn on my park lights.

check tail & park light circuits for short to ground. best place to start is at trailer wiring harness. (if equiped) i might want to purchase a "short finder" tool. (fairly cheap at harbor freight.) to help locate area of short. good luck.

Tail light fuse keeps blowing

you have a rubber through wire under the chassis near the shock mount or a bad tail light socket. this is very common on these have fixed alot of them. need to chase the wire harness that runs along the chassis an inspect really good. also if you have trailer wiring give it a good look too.

let me know if you have any more question or if you need a diagram for it i can only fax them but if you have a fax i would be happy too. let me know
