Most big box auto stores will lend you a code reader. You can reset the code and know what it is! Unhooking the battery for a couple of hours usually works too.

My ol' lady bought a 2001 Jimmy a while back, n now she's havin probs. Found a block of wood btween oil pan nframe. Small prob but now sevice engine starts blinkin. It used to stop now stays blinkin. Runs...

This could be as simple as overfilling your gas tank, loose gas cap, or a loose connector somewhere. Then again, it could be a bad oxygen sensor, maf sensor, fuel injector, or intake manifold. Have you scanned the truck for any engine codes?

Running the engine while the check engine light is flashing can cause severe damage. You can burn valves or cat converters up and such. Catch it now before you need a new engine.

1989 grand prix starts and will idle but dies when i step on the accelator

Try a new gas filter and have the fuel pressure checked. Scan the engine computer for trouble codes. Check your air filter and replace if dirty or old. How old are your spark plugs, need new ones?
Maybe it just needs a tune up.

98 passport 3.2v6 hard to start.must keep foot on gas untl engine warms up.check engine code PO101.replaced maf change.thinking of checking for vacuum leak as next step.HELP

I had the same problem with my Passport and it was the fuel pump going bad. The pump was not producing enough pressure to get the fuel into the fuel system. A local shop discovered the problem when they did a pressure test on my fuel system.

Engine won't turn over...replaced battery, still not starting. alternator checked out ok. how can you confirm if it's fuel pump?

Hello inspiredtouc, your fuel pump is located in the gas tank. Turn your key to the on posisiton, without tuning to start the engine, go back by the gas tank and listen very closely, you should be able to hear the small motor on the fuel pump. You do have to listen real close.
Good luck my friend!

I have a 1998 Olds Intrigue. Just had a tune up and replaced the upper intake manifold. Now I am getting a code that says the fuel is running too lean, Service Engine Light stays on. Also, When sitting...

Lean condition is a result of vacuum leaks, possibly at gaskets of upper manifold. You can check by spraying ether or carb cleaner at the gaskets with engine running. If engine revs at all, remove manifold to ensure gaskets properly installed.

Overheating: Make sure cable was reattached to temp sensor, and check for fan operation when engine gets hot.

if you have more questions, please let us know.
