Question about 1995 Audi 90

Open Question

My car has a little hesitation during start up sometimes, a little rough while idling initially(knock sensor maybe?). Recently while driving it will feel like it momentarily cuts out giving a slight jerking sensation usually under fuel demand. Again maybe the knock sensor, or possibly the ignition coil/ign. control module, etc.. Anyone sharing knowledge of this stuff would be much appreciated.

SOURCE: it feels like gas isn't

Have the fuel pressure checked- this would determine if your fuel pump is working properly. Its really easy if you have a gauge. you might be able to rent one at a part store. or it could need a new fuel filter

what kind of engine do you have? if it is the 2.o F.S.I your crank case breather valve can be acting up on you and will cause these concerns. If you have a 1.8t check the wire harness going to you coils look for cracks in your harness the ground wire if you see copper that is you problem will need to get ignition coil wire harness and cut and splice in new wire harness

SOURCE: AudiA3 Bad Idle and rough at certain revs

buy a bottle or two of gas line anti freeze, it absorbs any water that may be in your fuel. add one bottle now and one the next time you fill up. if it is water as i suspect you will notice results almost immediately.

SOURCE: hi any ideas have audi 200 q turbo 1986 will not

It could possibly be your timing belt. If it broke then the rotor won't spin and no spark will be produced.

Karl, have you confirmed good fuel pressure? It sounds like a weak fuel pump to me. Is your Check Engine light on? If so what are the codes in the computer?

Is the wiring good going to the O2 sensors? Maybe just look the car over and see if you have any bad grounds. They can do weird things. Could be a bad ICU.

Hello, Thomas. Check the knock sensor. This sensor is suppose to send signal to the computer if the engine start to knocking or pinging. The computer will change the setting on various other components to keep from doing this knocking or pinging. I remember in the older cars that weren't fuel injected but carbureted and had to burn high octane fuel. If one put low octane in the fuel tank the engine would knock/ping, and continue to run after the ignition was turned off. Try the knock sensor or do an diagnosis test on it. Look in your owner manual it tell how to self diagnosis test on you car. GB....stewbison

Sounds like a defective knock sensor. These bring on multiple misfire codes with little change to performance. Check your oil level too, this can make knock detection codes come on unnecessarily. Hope this helped...

It maybe the fuel pressure rugulator inside the EFI Unit. Sorenson makes a rebuild kit with all the gaskets, screens and regulator for about $30. An EFI is the most simplest carb you can rebuild. Check the Hanes manual or U-Tube to see how.

it sounds to me that the sensor your talking about is the camshaft positioning sensor. It regulates how much fuel you get to your engine, so that is also why you have the fuel smell as well.
