As long as you have fixed the problem it should not take long, try disconecting battery, let it sit for about 10 min. and hook it back up again.

How can I reset check engine light?

You need an OBD scanner. The link below shows what one looks like:
obd Google Search

However, the check engine light is / was on for a reason. You should first use an OBD to identify what the error code - the fault - is and rectify it.

Once a fault is rectified the oBD scanner will be able to reset the check engine light.

It's probably easier and cheaper to get a mobile mechanic to do it for you.

How do I clear check engine light

The check engine light is set by the onboard computer detecting a malfunction or out of tolerance condition. The code(s) can be read with an OBD-II scanner. Once the condition(s) that cause the codes are repaired, the code can be cleared with the OBD-II scantool. You can purchase these tools at local auto parts stores. Be careful though; the cheapest ones will only read the codes, but cannot reset the Check Engine Light.

Reset check engine light on a 2008 Buick Enclave without going to a garage

Anyone with a scanner can erase the codes and reset the light. On older cars, you could just remove the negative battery post for a few minutes, but that is not recommended for newer cars. Erase codes with a scanner.

I need to know how to reset my computer on my 2001 hyundai santa fe

First you must purchase a scanner with OBDII capabilities that can read and clear codes. Then you connect the scanner to the OBD diagnostic connector under the dash and perform the code clearing per the instructions with the scanner. A generic OBD scanner with these capabilities can be purchased at the local parts stores for around $70.

How do i reset the computer

Reset computer to clear trouble code? If this is the case and you don't have a OBD II scanner, disconnect the ground cable for about 15 min. this will clear the trouble codes. Good Luck.

Fixed P1648 and P0303 codes but check engine light is still on. how do we reset the light? thanks

should reset itself after the car has run time to test system. If it doesn't clear, have the system rescanned. The scanner can clear the codes.

I had a wiring harness problem underneath on one of the emissions sensors. I repaired the wires, but the Check Engine light is still on. Is there a way to reset this to determine if I have fixed the...

yes, OBD II, but not really a reset--just clear the code. A scanner can do this, but I would give it a day or so to clear itself. Car car will run tests while you drive.

I have a 96 mazda b4000 and the check engine light is on how can you clear the code without using a scanner?

In obd-II vehicles, you can clear the code by having 40 or more cycles of start and run conditions followed by turning off the ignition completely without having an engine anomoly or issue.

It's easier to use the clear codes button on the obd-II scanner.

Nowadays, you can buy an OBD-II scanner for less than $100 at Walmart. I just got one.

Good luck on this.

Cear computer codes

Hi

Ideally you need an OBD scanner to clear these codes. You may be able to have this done at Autozone.

An alternative method is to disconnect the cars battery for a minute or so which will reset the computer. However if you decide to do this make sure you have the code for your stereo as you will need this if the stereo goes into safe mode.

Hope this helps. Thanks for using FixYa.
