Hi,

There can be mutiple reasons why your car hestitates but you will need to describe the problem in more depth.

1) What fluid is it that you are referring to that is full cold or hot?

2) Does the car have Auto or manual gearshift and what is the engine size?

3) Has the onboard computer been scanned for fault codes?

4) Is the problem worse when car is cold or hot or in damp weather conditions?

5) What mileage is on the car and when was it last serviced?

6) Is the hesitation also evident in other gears or at particular rev ranges?

7) Have you changed your usual fuel supplier?

8) Has car had any recent service work or repair done?

If you can supply this and any other information you feel is relevant, it will assist in giving some pointers on a way forward.

Thanks,

I have a 2006 chrystler pacifica 3.5 motor 4valve on 4 valve. I had a friend replace the cv axel on driver side. In the process all my tranny fluid came out. How much do i need to add to it.. Thank you for...

The total capacity of your transmission is 9.7 quarts. However, it is improbable that all of the fluid drained out, since the torque converter is probably still full. It would probably take about 4 quarts. Just fill it up until you see fluid on the dipstick and then start the car and leave it in park. Then fill the transmission until it is within the range on the dipstick.

My car goes in first and second gear, but then will not shift into third or fourth gear. What could be wrong with it?

It could be a bad solenoid, or stuck valve(Most likely). Worst case is a transmission rebuild.

Flat spot on take off hot or cold turbo diesel 2006 fuel filter has been replaced. Just started a week ago and seems to be getting worse

if engine is revving and it "hesitates" the takes off- check your transmission fluid level. if enigne does not rev correctly, but then takes off like you said and trans is ok- have you checked your air filter?

Hi! I have a 1993 toyota pickup and recently it stopped shifting into third or fouth gear. it runs perfect in first, second, fifth., reverse. It started when i pulled out in first and i heard a pop and...

Check first the fluid if it needs replacing or you may need to add more. Dirt in the fluid may be a sign that the valve for the 3rd gear may be dirty or full of debris. If one gear is dirty normally the next gears are affected.

Refill trans fluid KC Laser 05/87

Top up for the auto trans is usally through the dipstic hole as for how much to put in markings are on the the dipstick with markings for hot and cold depending on weather the car has been used or not and check with manfacturer as to what type to put in, as for not going in to gear or changeing gear, it probably needs the auto trans serviced or it could be on its way out.The starting problem could be to do with engine starter itself and it may need replaceing.

I have a 2001 Volvo S60 with Automatic Transmission. Every once and a while it seems to hesitate when shifting from second to third gears. This happens once every couple of weeks.. I will be excellerating...

When was the last time you had a trans flush ? Sounds like you could use one. Trans fluid breaks down and doesnt work as well as i did when it was new. There are also sensors that tell it when to change gears could also be a sensor. I would start with a trans flush if it were my car. always try the least expensive first. then if u still have the problem look into calling a trusted transservice and ask them if the have any experiance in Volvo trans. if not fluid my bet is on a sensor in the transmission. Good luck and hope this helps ya.

2000 jeep grand cherokee laredo hesitates in 2nd gear when cold

Is it manual or auto trans? If manual the gear lube is thicker when cold and the syncronizers tend to stick and not slide free for grind free shifting or for locking into gear.
If Auto trans if the jeep is warmed up setting then cycle the gears before driving. If that helps then the fluid is not getting through the valve body properly. It could be metal in the body or filter or cold seals are letting fluid by til the seals warm, expand and hold pressure. I'm assuming trans fluid is good, not old. One item that can lead to poor cold shift in an auto trans is a bad torque convertor. Since it seems to be a second gear issue the second section of the trans could have a bad seal. In an auto trans I'd take to a shop and have a cold pressure test done. They will tell which one is the problem.
