83 rabbit gti has developed clanking/knocking sound that gets louder and increases when I accelerate
That doesnt sound good. Check the engine oil level and top up as necessary. If the noise is still there, then you should take it to a mechanic to check. It could mean that you need to either replace the engine or overhaul it. Hope that helps
