IS the starter on this car easy to get to? Mine just went out and my friend can fix it if it's not too hard to get to.

First there is not anything easy to repair on vehicles. If your friend is handy they should be able to get to it once they have the vehicle elevated safely.

Replacing a starter

Replacing the starter on a 96 Avalon is incredibly simple. I did it in the parking lot of a store. Just bring your ratchet set and you will be good to go. I took out the old starter, had a friend bring me to autozone and I bought a new one. Its easy to locate, easy to remove and easy to install.

How do I change the starter on a 1990 volvo 740gl. On thursday at 3pm car started no problem. At 6 pm I got nnothing but intsrament lghts. battery and alternator are good. Could it be the starter and do I...

A friend and I replaced mine this past weekend. The starter is located on the drivers side, next to the firewall down some, alittle hard to get to btu not to bad. It will take 2 people one to hold the starter and the other to unbolt the bolts.
You have to jack up the drivers side of the car to get at the bottom bolt.
There are 2 very long bolts that need to be removed.
Before you do that disconnect the battery negative cable and the cables on the starter.

Some starters are hard to get to but most of them can be removed fairly easy. Remember to remove the battery cables first.

Not cranking or turning over

It can either be the alternator, not likely, or an electrical problem. This just happened to a friend of mine with their Explorer and I believe it was a a loose fuse or wire and he fixed it himself.
