Question about Mercedes-Benz 560-Series

1 Answer

Sliding sunroof on 1986 Merc-Benz model SC500 (similar to US 1987 model 560-this one is an actual built in Germany brought over and did the US conversion ) is stuck in upright open position (vent open) I know there is an emergency manual turn location in trunk per the manual but not sure whether it is the white plastic tab or the nutted location in front of it. Hard to explain, but there is a white plastic round tab that goes in or out but that's all it does. The manaul doesn't spell out what that does nor specifically what the item is that you turn to manually roll down the pop up on the sun-roof. There is also just to the front of that a large nut that is the size of the standard lug nut as well, Bottom line what do you do to manually turn down the roof and how to fix the problem of the sun-roof not working. Have checked fuse links under hood in fuse box already with none bad. Thanks.

The sunroof motor on Mercedes-Benz is in the trunk on the driver's side. Just pull back the carpet panel, and it is right there. you can manually pull it open and shut through that motor also,by spinning the motor.most probably the motor is got short and not turning the sunroof up /down automatically but doing it manually will help.
The trick to disassembling the stuck-up roof is to get on the roof of the car and use a long flat pry-bar to reach from the rear to the front edge of the sunroof, and carefully pop the connectors that hold the leading edge of the liner to the metal sunroof. Once you get those popped, you can get the liner off and then you have access to all the offending bits. You need to carefully scribe marks where all the pieces interconnect, and then use those marks to line up the new parts during assembly. You also MUST use the factory alignment pins and the special tool, AND the factory written procedure for making the fine adjustments so it closes level. Pay VERY CAREFUL attention to the order of parts - get them out of order and you WILL break something.
----- This will help. Thanks please keep updated.please do rate the solution positively .thank you for using fixya

Sunroof slider for s320 stops after 6 inches

I had a 94 s420 and now my 96 s320 same problem. nothing with lubricating but u can try buying some. I was told Mercedes come from Germany where it always is cool or cold. they have an inuation made of this hard like tar material. you may even see it on your glass and see some chunks that feel off after time and time being heated here in the northeast or where your from. I know my cars interior reaches at times in the summer sometimes 120f. If you take down the headliner u should be able to see if it is that tar board insulation. I just leave mine closed.

Have a benz 01 ml320, with leaking sunroof drain on

Open up the sunroof and try to unclog the drainage. You will see this from the inside of the ML by opening the whole sunroof and stickin your hear thru. On the drivers side you will see a drainage whole similar to the passenger side. Mine did the same thing and unclogged it with a straw.
