petrol pumps are controlled by the pressure regulator and do not affect consumption unless it is way low
if the pressure regulator is keeping the pressure too high , then the injectors squirt more fuel in than required
it also places stress on the injector seals and they leak into the manifold
best if you don't guess but have the fault codes read as it could be a failed cat converter
Try pouring a 8oz bottle of regular alcohol into the gas tank, into about a 1/4 tank of fuel and take out on the high way and open it up ( floor the gas pedal and open up the pistons and let the alcohol clean the heads and this probably will solve your problem!
these systems vary widely from one manufacturer to another. so for you unit specs your going to have to be very specific. im not sure what you mean by pump delivery. there are a variety of system for producing hydraulic pressure. older tractors usually use a crank driven hydraulic pump while newer models use a hydrostatic system. i would recomend contacting the manuafactuer and purchasing a service manual for your unit. this will have all the information you need
I have a 98 SuperCab as well and it did the same thing. It was the electric fuel pump located inside the tank. It's tricky and hard to do without dropping the bed, but it can be done. I paid someone to fix it. Good luck.
If you have no 'check engine' light, you will need a technician to diagnose it and I would recommend NOT driving it. If, for example, a rod cap has come loose, it will destroy the engine if it gets even looser.
it sounds like your throttle position sensor is probably bad. it is located on the throttle body if you replace it yourself be sure to get the part from volkswagon, aftermarket parts are cheaper but are not properly calibrated and will provide less than adicuate performance.
