Question about 1997 Ford Expedition

1 Answer

My 1997 ford Expedition 5.4 'backfired' on starting and disintegrated a plastic component (part no F65F-9K461-CA) which is located on lower half of engine behind the Alternator. What is this and where can I get a replacement ? Also any information concerning how to fit and other spares to get at same time would be appreciated. (I'm in Eastern Europe and spares aren't just around the corner).

In Europe i would not know where to buy one except a Ford dealership if there is one or online somewhere, its the lower intake manifold,in the US its about $220.00 for the part and a whole lot of work to replace it.A complete intake manifold gasket set is about $60.00 also.Try www.Rockauto.com and enter the information to your vehicle, click engine, then click on intake manifold, you will see the prices and warranty information.Check to see if they ship out of the US,which they should

My 1997 ford expedition has no power when engaged to drive, It drives very slow and backfires also

Hi
The reason for the backfiring is bad connection with the cylinders. Check whether the plug wires going to the right cylinders. If no, correct that to fix the backfiring. Also for power check the choke and fuel filter?

Check the #15 fuse in fusebox behind marked panel on left lower dash just below and left of steering column. This is only a 5 amp fuse but it controls a lot. This fixed our 2001 Expedition. 25 cents.
