96 olds lss had fuel pump replaced wont stay started long sputter spits ect.

You better find a different mechanic . Before calling a bad fuel pump ,did he do fuel pressure test ? Did he test the electrical circuit ? Did he check mass air flow sensor ,injectors , fuel regulator , engine senors ? How many miles on the vehicle , is the engine in good shape ? Timing chain ?

96 Geo Tracker automatic jerks and sputters if I press the gas too hard

Probably needs a tune up. Clean air filter, fuel filter. Clean the Mass Air Flow Sensor & Throttle body. May need to clean the fuel injectors.

96 Toyota 4Runner sputters when starting when hot only!

how about the fuel filter. I didn't see this on your list and it should be done every 20000km and the air filter. I think its a fuel filter. not the pump. could be the coils but I would start cheap and change fuel filter first. when the pump is cold it pumps with more psi to blow passed the clooged filter after warm it is weaker and has a hard time pushing through the clog

Sputtered out and now it won't stay running; dies when put in gear.

Mass air flow , crank sensor . I wouldn't discount anything . Having a scan tool that can view engine sensor data would be a great help too , testing fuel pressure and flow and back pressure test the exhaust .

I am having what I think is fuel issues that is causing it (96 Max) to die out and sputter when you least expect it. I have replaced the fuel pump and put on a used mass air flow sensor. Sometimes when I...

Try replacing the fuel filter - It is located in the engine compartment, next to the firewall on the drivers side. It is secured to the firewall with a clip and has a clamp at the top and bottom secured by a phillips head screw. Hard to take out from the top, but with small arms and fingers, you should be able to replace it in about 10 minutes.

When i start my car and get on the gas i sputters and dies

These cars had mass air flow sensors that would make them perform like that. If you ever get the vehicle running, simply tap on the mass air flow sensor. If it stalls, replace it.

Car sputters or dies when idling, but starts fine.

I suspect you have an idle circuit issue. When the thottle is closed, the throttle valve is almost closed (like 95%). The linkage on the throttle body is against the hard stop.
SO, when idling you need a way to let enough air into the engine to maintain an idle speed. The IAC, Idle Air Control valve is the way you do that and the engine computer controls the rate of air flow.
Sometimes it gets plugged up so you can clean it with a little carb cleaner. Might have to take it apart.
Also, you have a MAF, Mass Air Flow sensor that tells the computer how much air is flowing through the air cleaner intake at any time. The sensor gets coated with varnish and vies a false reading. Clean it gently with carb cleaner and a toothbrush.
Other than that, I would go to an auto parts store that can run a computer scan for free to see if you have any fault codes stored. They will tell you next stpes.

I assume you 2.0L SPI engine & not Zetec.
