5.4 triton engines don't have wires! Check the coils, they sit right on top of the plugs. Good luck!

Since you changed the plugs, gotta ask, did you re-wire it right? Are the plugs gapped correctly? Maybe the plug wire is bad? Things to check. Pull plug, place plug so it is grounded to motor, turn over to see if it sparks. If not, Check to make sure wire is seated to plug and rotor right.

These expeditions have a very famous TSB for the cops(coil on plugs) failing. When you replaced the spark plugs you had to pull these off before the plug came out, there is one per cylinder, and more than likely this is the problem. These run about sixty U.S. dollars a piece, and are very easy to replace.I hope I could help. Thanks for using Fixya!!! rate me accordingly

#3 cylinder is misfiring ?

check ignition coils. you can swap with another cylinder coils and see if misfire changes to other cylinder. If it jumps to other cylinder where there you atached the coil from cylinder #3, change the coil.
You can also check Coil On Plug Boot for damage and simple change the part. very easy and cheap.

Misfire 4th cylinder

Could be the ignition coil. Also could be a compression problem. Work on the misfire then see if the bad sensor goes away.

P0304 code, misfire in 4th cylinder. changed all plugs and 4th cylinder coil. (4th cylinder had water in it.) SES light still comes on. think I may not have got all water out. (Just wiped with rag.)

what year model and how many miles on the vehicle? did you check the compression when you had the plug out? also a clogged / bad fuel injector can create a misfire.

98 Sportage changed new plugs, wires, and boot and (fuse?) for coil packs. But now misfiring on 4th cylinder. Prior to tune was only getting poor fuel economy no misfires at all. What would i fix next?

if you started out with no misfire at all and then got a misfire after the tune up that does seem strange, my best guess would be that the plugs are not gapped correctly or the spark plug wire is, not completely snapped on, or the wire on the 4th cylinder was damaged when it was removed, i would start out making sure all the wires are on, you will either hear of feel a small snap when the wire is seated on the plug good, also make sure the wire is connected to the coil good

4th cylinder misfire in '96 eclipse rs(5 speed if it makes a dif)

There may be a problem with the coil pack causing this misfire or the timing is off enough to cause late or early firing of the plug.

It has a number 2 cylinder misfire. I have already had the plugs, plug wires, and the back coil changed, and it still says it has a number two cylinder misfire. What can I try next?

misfire caused by leaking in the intake valve you must chek it , or may be your car is working rich that means fuel - air mixture is not on the right ratio so check your oxygen sensor
