Hello. This means for some reason your alternator is not functioning properly. The engine will start and run until your battery goes dead. If you have a voltmeter display on your dashboard the needle will be below 12 to confirm that the alternator is not functioning properly. You need to have this checked out before your battery goes dead so you don't end up stranded on the road. I hope this helps, good luck.

99 suzuki vitara v6 turns on all power but wont

the starter uses 10x more elect. power than the head lamps
or 100x more than dash lamps. it means little.
what matters most is jumper cable starts.
does it crank with jumper cables to a running, donor car,(aaa jump)
no bad starter
no, bad starter key line( immobliizer or such) ask how to test.
yes, cranks great, now.
that means the battery was dead,
i charge the battery and it now cranks, due to lights left on or
charge system failure, if battery goes to 13.3 to 15v running good
if on the charge system failed. (causing battery discharge)
if after charging a battery it will not crank car, its a bad battery (jumps ok)

Engine management and battery light on

battery means the charging system is in failure mode.
running engine. all lights glow key on, not running.
so if they glow , the ECU may also report bad charging ( it can)
and glow the CEL lamp, you scan it and see the errors
get it scanned,
btw the car will stall soon, when the battery dies.
so dont drive it.
all autostores in uSa (most) can scan it for free.. 1billion google hits on that now.

Fuel relay

Short answer, your batter is bad. or is disCHARGED:
Long.:

wont crank?
no engine, cranks ,unless the starting system works.
unless pushed fast, like my car or i park on a hill and coast jump my car.(M/T tranny rule)

NO crank, is the true failure here:
slow Cranks are , bad battery , or a discharged battery , due to bad charging system or parked for 3 months or longer.

so ill assume its NO CRANK.
I turn the key TO START and the starter fails to CRANK.
the starter motor is dead. (key clue 1)
so i attach a set of jumper cables to my Caddy, running and this car
now cranks and RUNS (you left that out. above, huh? runs)

turnsover means nothing, because the engine starter turns over
and the engine can turn over and the engine can run,
once running the EFI system SUSTAINS runninng.
so there are 4 states there. (4 phases )

No cranks #1 reason to be slow , are a bad battery
so I charge that battery, and see how if it cranks , now?
it dont crank means a bad battery
it does work( crank) see how long it works.../?
if it dies again, or better, check the cars Alternator for by measuring
accross the battery terminals running , with any volt meter.
13.3 to 15vdc is a good alternator running the engine.
if NOT, the charge system is bad. (system)

On some cars the IMMO can block Cranking or for sure blocks
fueling after 2 seconds. So. watch the IMMO light on the dash.
Immo is the Immoblizer. option.

Headlights are very dim

If the lights are dim when the engine is off, but brighten when it is running, it means that the battery is going bad. If they do not get brighter with the engine on, then you have a charging system failure. This may be due to a blown fuse or a slipping belt, but may also mean that you need a new alternator.

CHG Light Showing, in our 81 Corolla CS what dose this mean?

Your chg light is your charging system. It could be your alternator, battery, cables, wires etc. Generally pretty easy to diagnose with a multimeter. To check the alternator the old fashion way, you can start the car and disconnect the battery while it is running. If the engine stops then the alternator definately has a problem. This is not recommended as it is much safer to use a multimeter.

Lights up when turned on,but repeated clicking when you try to start it

dose it start when you get a boost off, and if it dose you need to check your battery connectors they may need replacing, and if thats not the problem make sure that your alternator is charging your battery and if non of these are the problem you need a starter.
