2000 dodge durango stuck in 4 wheel and it make a fun noise if you try to drive it

Check to see if you linkage coming from your selector lever to your transfer case is off. i also have a 2000 durango and the little gromlets (rubber bushings) that hold the linkage bar in place were warnout and i had to replace them. mine wouldn't go into 4 low because the gromlets were worn and alowed to much slack.

I have a 2000 dodge durango automatic with no owners manuel how do you engage the 4 wheel drive properly


with it running place it in neutral , now either turn on or shift it into either 4wd high or 4wd low.. shift the tranny into reverse and roll back approx 5-10 ft you should be able to hear the hubs lock ..now your ready for the mud..have fun

I cant get my 2000 durango out of 4x4 high lock


Put your transmission in nuetral then shift back to 4 high then put in park and back to drive.

Many times this type of issue is caused by the motor that changes the transfer from 2 to 4 wheel drive, they get stuck, another issue is dirty fluid, have you had the transfwer case serviced?
