I am trying to run an 8 gauge power cable from the battery of my Ford Escort 1999 1.6 Finesse into the cabin of my car so I can then run it to the boot to power my new amplifier. BUT I cant work out where the wire needs to go from under the hood to inside the car, I understand there is a gromit somewhere but I dont know where I am looking... any assistance greatly appreciated

You would be much better off running a wire that large under the car, tucking it into the frame wells and wire tie it off. the 3 gromits that i can think of, are too full of wires to allow that big of a cable to run.

Try looking to where your bundled wire harness, almost looks like a huge power cable goes from the engine compartment into the firewall.

when you jump start it it runs then you disconnect the cable and it dies? hope this is right. the alternator could be bad and the battery isnt getting a charge so it dies from running low on battery power.hope this helps

How do i remove the timing belt cover off my 98 escort lx?

if you are only removing the timing belt cover 1st remove the negative battery cable from the battery, next remove the drive belt (alternator belt) and belt tensioner next remove the three nuts and three bolts from the timing belt cover then remove the cover, you mite have to finesse the cover a little to get it off from behind the crank pulley but it will come out .

1999 Ford Escort Won't start after replacing Plugs and cables.

check the battery if its ok, check for power at the starter with a meter or a test light. it sould have a constant power source and one that has power when you turn the key to start. if those are there you need a starter
