If it starts to growl as soon as you press down lightly on the clutch, you have one of two problems and more than likely both. your throwout bearing is bad (can't lub them) or the fingers on you clutch pressure plate are worn and that is causing the problem. either way, it will only get worse, much worse fast. if you are mechanical, it is not all that hard to change out the clutch and pressure plate, along with the throughout bearing. you have to split the motor from the tranny and takes jacks, lift, tools. know what military pay is like, sucks and for all you do...... may call around to several shops and find one that would do it cheap. can be done with a friend in a weekend, as long as you have the equipment, and stay away from the beer until your finished.......

Ignition Timing Diagrams for Mazda 323 1990

I am not sure why you would need a diagram for the ignition timing?

I have no access to data on this computer but mostly even the best data books simply provide the written location of the marks and the basic, stroboscopic and a few auto-advance details. In some cases there must be some preparation to ensure accurate timing. Try the link below

Clutch makes a grinding noise and shorts out the radio.

Is the sound that of your starter trying to engage? It also sounds like the guy who replaced your clutch really didn't know what was wrong other then to sell you a clutch replacement. Bad shop, call this guy and tell him his fix didn't work and to either do it right or give you your money back for a fix that wasn't needed.
But it still sounds like some wire or clutch pedal linkage part is grounding out while engaging your starter. Anyone else, some thoughts?

open your bonnet check to see @ gearbox if the-res is cable, or a cylinder, the cable is Usualy visible on the top of the gearbox if theres a cable theres no clutch flu-ed needed. Note that your gearbox uses oil. Usualy on older models like 1989 the use a clutch cable no flu-ed needed
