Question about 1999 Ford Expedition

2 Answers

My alarm in my ford expedition keeps going and going and will not let me start my car. It is a after market ford alarm. We tried pushing the reset button, checked the fuses for the horn, right now the horn has been disconnected. my alarm remotes do nothing. I do not have a owners manual on my vehicle nor a manual on the alarm. Is there some sequence to shutting them off and resetting them? HELP, no vehicle for almost 2 weeks now.

There is a hood open switch on many after market alarms that can cause the condition you speak of.

Also there is a chance that the engine starter solenoid internal contact has failed for the start circuit. You can check this with a healthy screwdriver by shorting from the positive lead to the terminal. (YES It SPARKS!) If the starter engages then the solenoid is fine. If it does not then the the solenoid has failed.

Another thing that can cause what you speak of is the alarm motion sensor.

If you really want it fixed... like NOW go to any auto alarm installation shop, grab an install tech and take him to your driveway.... (with a borrowed car if need be) My bet is he will have you going in less than 15 mins and for a reasonable charge.

Sometimes the brake pedal is involed with all this. When you ounlock your truck, before you start it, press on the brake, then start it up. If not, then the alarm is hooked up with something else on the truck. Try playing around with your turn signal swtich; or wiper blades for that matter.

Battery on 98 Ford Expedition doesn't hold charge

First thing I would do is have someone qualified disconnect the alarm and stereo and start over.
Chances are you have circuits cross-connected and something is draining the battery.

There is a non-factory anti-theft device keeping my truck from starting. How do i remove it

I would before you do that call a few places that install after market alarms---cutting may not solve the issue and could just make things worse--see if you can locate the unit (brand on the remote??) for a brand or model number.

Cutting without knowing may be foolish.

2000 ford expedition wont start. Had after market alarm disconnected

This truck has a factory security system, why would another one be installed?? There is no way to know where the wiring was tapped into for the aftermarket alarm, so just get under the dash and trace the wires is all That I can suggest, remove the steering column covers to access the switch is necessary..

Its Aftermarket. See if you can find the "unit", under the dash, for a manufacturers name, then google it for the nearest dealer, and tell them what the problems is.

1998 ford expedition wont start. theft like is

If you are reseting a factory alarm...lock and unlock the drivers door with the key. If you don't know the code look under the dash driver side in left corner there should be a black cover with a sticker with a code on it 6 numbers that is the factory code.
