Question about 1999 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
I had this same problem on a car and it turned out to be a broken wire on the pickup coil inside the dist. when i went to change it i used a 350 coil but it didnt work / found out later a 301 american engine turns the opposite direction and the pickup coil is wound the opposite way /with the right pickup coil my problem was cured.
as the advance would come on the wire would lose contact killing the spark.

Definitely the fuel pump, a very common problem. Unfortunately it's in the gas tank and a tough job unless you have a hoist. Some people remove the box to do this job as it allows you to access the top of the tank.
