Was it the plugs that looked bad? If they were crusty looking then you probably have a leaky head gasket.

I would go to a parts store and get them to check the codes, that's really the only way to know what's going on.

How to change power steering pump on 1999 chevorlet malibu

Here's video showing the basic procedures. He mentioned but didn't emphasize supporting the engine before removing the mount. Also, he didn't show installing the pulley on the new pump. If you get the 'loaner' tool from parts store, the same tool and accessories can be used to remove the pulley and install it.

My malibu stutters when i take off. Acts as if it

check this first, check the tps sensor and make sure airfilter is clean. because a bad tps has an effect on how tranny shifts. if the tps is going bad it will send the wrong info to pcm. if that does not fix it. remove and clean maf sensor. also check plugs and wires,

I have a check engine light on in my 99 malibu and the code reads P1810 , is this a sensor problem? I was driving along the hwy just fine and then I took off from a stop light and the car acted like it...

If you are really really lucky, it is the harness on the side of the transmission. Unplug the harness looking for corrosion. Clean and reassemble.
It could be the TFP Switch, wires connecting TFP to PCM or the PCM is bad

How can I check my transmission fluid on my 1999 chevorlet Malibu. It will not go in to drive but it will go in reverse

To check the fluid level: It's a 4T40E. It is filled from a black or red plastic cap on top of the transmission

You will find a plug about 1.5" from the bottom of the transmission. This is the level checking plug. With the engine running, the fluid should be level with the opening. If a small amount of fluid does not run out, add a little until it does. The transmission pan should be about 110F or so when you install the level checking plug, since transmission fluid expands when it's hot.

Undocumented feature of the level-checking plug:

With the engine off, removing this plug drains about 4 quarts of fluid. So don't remove it without the engine running unless you want to remove 4 quarts. (I think it might make removing the pan a little less messy if you did remove this plug first).

this is not easy to do, I don't understand why GM ever came up with this type of tranny and many reason why I don't buy small GM vehicle. I recommend take it to the shop with a lift.
