It comes up as a transmission component slipping.

Save Your Money. The Lumina is one of many GM throw away cars. Scrap it. You can buy a running car cheaper than fixing the Lumina. Just don't buy another GM product.

sounds to me like it is a security issue.. its really common in GM vehicles..... I had it happen to my chevy.. I did a lot of research and found a module that will bypass it and allow the car to start. I put mine in a few years back and I haven't had any issues... your car is on the list year make and model for having this problem... 1992 Chevy Lumina. High beams work, low beam headlights do not.Bulbs are fine.

Bad dimmer switch (lever to flip between beams) common GM problem.

GM dexcool or you can only mix with a type that says all makes or models,GM dexcool approved replacement. DONT use regular green antifreeze, they do not mix.

The prefix portion of the ID code tells you the assembly plant code, M is Gm Of Mexico T is Tonawanda. The difference is the plant it was built in.

Where is the camshaft located at on a 1998 Chevy Lumina

Its just above the crankshaft in the center of engine just below the lifters. See a GM dealer parts dept. for pictures af cams and cam sensors. They might fax you a picture.

try a different brand sensor if your not using GM. Make sure your using good quality parts and check that the wire that plugs into the sensor is in good shape (no corroded pins in the plug, has low to no electrical resistance)
