It sounds like it is vapor locking. Fuel in the line is vaporizing. fuel pump may be going. check pressure, it should be 40 psi. if 25 or lower, change pump in tank.

Possible crank sensor issue. When the vehicle does not start is it not getting fuel or not getting spark or both?

While running my 1985 Jeep Cherokee shuts down and I have to wait about 5 to 15 minutes for all electricity to come back to the entire vehicle. Could this be a bad ignition module?

Could be a bad ignition module or could point to faulty wiring. The longer your vehicle runs the hotter some electrical components get and that's the 5 - 15 minutes it wants to cool down.

My car will run but when i cut it off it never cranks back up. It always takes at least a hour to crank back up..and it has became inconvenient to go to the store or anything.. What could this possibly be?

  • The first two things I think of is a back pressure valve or the started is getting hot and won't fire properly until it cools down.

  • Do you have a Check Engine Light on?
  • When you say "crank back up" do you mean after shutting the car down, upon trying to start, it does not crank at all? Or does it crank but will not turn over?

  • Have you checked the fuel pressure?
  • Have you checked for spark?
  • How old is that starter?
  • Do you have any further intel on the situation with your car that will help me help you better?
  • For instance, did this gradually happen. Like the car would start up and run and when shut off would bot start for 15 minutes and as time passes 30 minutes? Of did this just happen all at one out of the blue?

  • If you have any comments please feel free to leave them here.
  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

Regards,Tony

1986 ranger 2 . 9 5 speed stuts down an will not restart let the truck sit for bout a hour an it will restart like nothing is wrong

I would say it is the coil. A coil is what it says. A coil of copper wire. When it gets warm or hot, it expands. When it expands the copper wire inside breaks connection. When it cools back down it shrinks back and makes connection again. Then it will start.

Good Luck! I hope this helps! If so PLEASE vote! Thanks!

Truck cuts off while driving down the road.

Replace the TFI module. Ford back in 1986 thur 1993 had problems like the one you wrote about. TFI module gets hot and shuts car or truck off then when it cools sometmies starts and sometimes not.

Shut 05 Ford f350 diesel off wont start

dies the truck restart once it cools off? it is very common for th 6.0 to have high pressure oil issues on a hot soak. they will run till the cows come home but once shut off they can not build up enough pressure by cranking speed alone to start truck until it cools down and the seals become rigid enough to bridge the gaps they are sealing in the first please. if this is the case. it may be the STC fitting ojn the back of the high pressure oil pump (intake and turbos must be removed to check) or possibly the branch tube o rings have worn. the branch tubes are located under the valve covers and supply the fuel injectors the oil they need to perform their "power stroke"...
