Im looking at buying a 1993 jeep cheroke 4x4 automatic. The truck was owned by a trany shop they rebuilt the trany , front and rear difs, and transfer case but have a part left over its a computer part and they say that the trany wont shift on its own due to this. I would leave this jeep alone. There are others for sale that wont require extensive and expensive repairs such as this!!!!!

if its not shifting make sure fluids are full (I'm sure you did) im just saying is your speed sensor on trany pluged in , and your throttle return cable from trany to fuel return hooked up

No 3th or 4th gear , auto trans

auto tranys look somewhat like a jet engine with blades that a pushed by trany fluid. In 3rd or fourth gear these BANDS are damaged. looks like a trany overhaul.

I had the transmission rebuilt. The sensor replace the PCM. sTART the car will drive as the car warms up gears automatically shifting becomes a problem. Turn car off and restart it's okay.

have your computer re programed if problem returns or it doesnt help then take it back to who did the rebuild. good luck, many times trany has to be programed when to shift, but shop should have kown.

I would check your linkage for proper adjustment. If that is ok check for bad trany mounts creating to much movement making it pop out.
