2008 Ford Expedition rear folding seat in down position will not come up

More then likely the electric motor is failing, going up puts allot more load on the small motor. Have a dealer check this and confirm my guess.

Window cable broke so window does not go up and down

The window regulator cable on a Ford Expedition is part of the regulator assembly and is not serviceable separately. Therefore, if your Expedition's window regulator cable incurs damage, you'll need to replace the entire regulator. The cable moves the regulator up or down in response to the window motor. If the cable malfunctions, you won't have command of your Expedition's power window until you replace the regulator. If you have basic auto-repair skills and an hour of free time, you can replace your Expedition's window regulator. Pry the window switch bezel out of the Expedition's door panel using your trim tool. Disconnect the switch from the door harness by hand and set the switch/bezel assembly aside.

  • 2 Remove the hex head screws from the door panel using the Phillips screwdriver. Depending on the year of your Expedition, you may need to remove a trim cover from behind the inner door handle with the trim tool to expose that screw.
  • 3 Lift the door panel up and off the door by hand. If your Expedition has a courtesy light in the lower-trailing edge of the panel, disconnect that light from the door wiring harness before moving the panel away from the door.
  • 4 Push the Expedition's window to the top of the window frame by hand. Tape the glass to the top of the door with packing tape to prevent it from dropping back down.
  • 5 Remove the window regulator mounting bolts with the socket set. Unbolt the regulator from the window glass with the socket set. Pull the old regulator out of the Expedition's door by hand.
  • 6 Set the new window regulator into the Expedition's door by hand. Bolt it in place with the socket set.
  • 7 Reinstall the Expedition's door panel in reverse of how you removed it.

1999 expedition rear window won't open?

Have you checked the fuse for the window. Refer to your owners manual for location of the fuse box/es. The reference information should be in the fuse boxes. Find the fuse for the rear window and pull it and see if it is blown. The metal strip will not be in one piece it it is blown. If it is blown replace it with the same amp rating fuse. If the fuse is good, then I would start with the window motor etc.

I am replacing a driver’s side rear faulty power window motor in a 1998 Ford Expedition, 5.4L. Removal Instruction #4: 4.Raise and support the rear door window glass to the full up position. CAUTION:...

Good question. The motor has a gear drive for the plastic cable which moves the window. When you loosen the bolts for the motor, there will be a separation of the gear from the plastic cable. Then you will be able to move the window without interference from the motor.

There can be several ways to brace the window. You may find metal braces inside the door. I use some "C" clamps about 3"long that I obtained from Big Lots. But you can also use small Vice grip pliers and wood. Just clamp the wood to a brace and rest the window on the wood.

There is not a lot of room to work with, but the motor is easy to change out. One word of advice- if you can unplug the wires from the old motor before you remove it, plug the new motor into the harness before you take even 1 nut off the old motor. Remember to have the Ignition Key in Run position or the vehicle running.

Then try the new motor. Your problem may just be a bad switch. I hope you have been helped by my solution.

They are replaceable although you must replace the entire window regulator. You may find some good deals online, and its a fairly easy job. Hopefully this helps!!
