spark plugs should be fine, the problem is the valve cover gaskets blow then leak oil all over the coils, causing them to arc and short out, i have replaced 6 of 8 coils. damn lincoln,

54 Cadillac 341 motor with a pertronix ignition. intermittent spark on #7 cylinder. changed distributor twice, wires twice rotor once. any ideas on why the misfire on #7 ???

You didn't say if you had tried a different spark plug. If you sure it's not the plug, then maybe something wrong mechanically in that cylinder- like a sticking valve that stays open and won't build compression. That will cause a misfire. Do a compression test and see if that cylinder is equal to the others.

2003 crv will start but stalls. replaced fuel pump/spark plugs/ignition coils. 2 center spark plugs has a strong spark but 2 far end left and right do not have a spark. pls advice...thxs.

Do a cylinder contribution test
Do a cylinder combustion test
Do a cylinder leak down test-that is the best one to do
Do at least a compression test

Any of those may point you towards
failed valves, that no longer seal, thus
the dropped cylinders & misfire or no fire

Wires on correct coils?

Causes cylinder misfire

Misfire problems have 3 possible reasons: gas, spark, or a mechanical problem. You have tried to address the gas and ignition problem. If you now do have spark on #7, and the injector is putting gas into the cylinder-you should make sure of this before proceeding-then you may have a valve or cam lobe problem in that cylinder, or even a head gasket leak. A leak-down test will confirm that and indicate the problem. Alternatively, you could have an engine compression test done. Low compression in #7 will confirm the problem, but won't give you any indication of what or which valve may be not sealing.

2003 lexus gs300 misfires only when cold

What have you checked so far ?
You need spark at the right time, fuel to the injector, and normal compression for the cylinder to produce power.
Could be a spark plug, injector, or several other things.

Missing,viborating

Misfire could be a number of things:
a) spark plugs - change them if used over 15K miles - inspect/regap.
b) spark plug wires - change them if over 15K miles - inspect
c) ECM (electronic control module) - test with HEI (high energy ignition) tester.

The vibrating tells me that the engine is running on less than its normal compliment of cylinders - the shaking is produced by the imbalance caused in the engine by one (or more) cylinder(s)
not firing at all.

The "Check Engine" light probably is coming on due the the misfire condition. Go to Pep Boys or
Advance Auto Pats, where they'll tell you (free) your codes causing the "Check Engine' light to be
lit - the code coming from your truck's computer will probably be one or more of:
P0300 - Random/Multiple Cylinder misfire detected
P0301 - Cylinder 1 misfire detected
P0302 - Cylinder 2 misfire detected
P0303 - Cylinder 3 misfire detected
P0304 - Cylinder 4 misfire detected
P0305 - Cylinder 5 misfire detected
P0306 - Cylinder 6 misfire detected
P0307 - Cylinder 7 misfire detected
P0308 - Cylinder 8 misfire detected
P0313 - Misfire detected with low fuel

Codes. 0307. O128. 0316. 1000. 2106.

P0307 = cylinder no.7 misfire detected.
P0316 = misfire detected during startup-first 1000 revolutions.
P0128 = coolant thermostat (coolant temperature below thermostat regulating temperature)
P1000 = On board diagnostic readiness test not complete.
P2106 = Throttle actuator control (TAC) system----forced limited power mode.

Check the spark plug, spark plug wire, coil, and fuel injector for cylinder 7. Check compression on cylinder 7. When the no. 7 misfire is solved, clear the codes.

02 navigator misfire #7 cyl still after i changed plugs and coil

You've tried everything but getting the timing checked out. You've done all the other parts of a tune-up but that.

When you changed the spark plugs did you notice #7 was especially dirty or greasy, this could point to a seal being broken or a piston ring that needs replacing.

2001 bmw 325i is misfiring?

misfire happens because there is still fuel not burned in the cylinder so when its pushed out its burned in exhaust tube because the heat thats why you hear these small explosions. this caused if your sparking pluge not firing well . or there is a leak in the intake valve . in your case i advice you to check your sparking plug . if this helped pls vooote
