Question about 1997 Chevrolet K1500

1997 Chevrolet 1500 no start

Have a 97 C1500 with a 4.3 that has 60psi fuel pressure and spark at the plugs. Owner(friend) came out one day and it just wouldn't fire. Turns over fine - no start. I always thought that if you have fire and fuel you were good to go. I even tried shooting ether down throttle body - still no start. I don't like using ether - but I was out of ideas. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. Jeff

Is the fuel spraying into the cylinders? pull a plug and see if they have fuel on them.....If not you have a problem at the injectors if there is pressure on the rails. If fuel is present you aren't firing strong enough to ignite the fuel. pull a plug and put the wire on it and touch it to a ground and check to see if it is a good blue spark or a weak white or yellow spark...If no spark check for dead plugs or distributor module,

Check for low voltage to the computer. If the voltage is low- no injection. Could be as simple as bad battery cables or weak battery. Try boosting the vehicle while cranking. Watch the volt gauge on the dash while cranking. If it dips near the red, the truck won't start. The ignition coil may still fire even if the computer is not pulsing the injectors.

I have a 1997 Silverado with the 350. It started fine one day but about a mile down the road it died and will not start back. I can hear the fuel pump working and check for spark at the plug wires....

fuel regulator check that... there is also a bleed vale on the injector ram, check there is pressure there. be ready with a cloth as it maybe under pressure.if that is ok check the injector relay should be next to the fuel pump relay. best to keep a spare one just in case they go.

1997 chevrolet 1500. Fuel pump is working with good pressure, it have spark and the fuel injectors are working. The problem is engine will crank but it won't start; but if you introduce starting fluid...

I don't know liter size of engine? I need fuel pressure spec?
If you have the spider fuel system, that system is noted for problems. Usually the start up fuel pressure is 60--66 psi, after it is running, it will run with less pressure.
There used to be service bulletin on the spider fuel system for sticking poppet valves on first start up of the morning. Then it would usually run fine the rest of the day. The fix was to clean the poppet valves. The cleaning procedure I saw was a shop procedure.
If it isn't a fuel issue, engine cranking, the vehicle systems get battery voltage, engine running the systems get alternator voltage, that can be several volt difference. Any applicable trouble codes?

97 dodge pickup with 5.2 I have strong spark out

If you have a strong spark at the coil and plugs are not then it sounds like plug wires. They can degrade over time.

When i try to start my 97 silverado it takes like 4 or 5 times of cranking it to get it started.. i've already changed the distributor cap and change the spark plug lines.. what else do you suggest

Check the fuel pressure - you should have 45 - 50 psi of fuel pressure when you turn the key on - this is immediate. If it takes more than that or it takes awhile for the fuel pressure to come up you need a fuel pump.
