Sounds like you have an air pocket in the cooling system. Take the radiator cap off the radiator(not when engine is hot) and then start the car. As air moves through the lines you will see the antifreeze level go down. Let it run and pour coolant into the radiator until it stays full. then put on the radiator cap and fill the overflow tank to the right level and I hope that fixes your problem.

Good Luck

sound like the impelled in your water pump may have failed. Or your system is air bound. Try to open the rad cap when its cold and let it run and see if air bubbles come to the top

No heat or air barely enough to keep front windshield defrosted

If engine temp is not at normal, change thermostat. If it is, check for trapped air in system.
with cold engine, loosen radiator cap & stART ENGINE, RUN TILL UPPER HOSE GETS HOT (meaning thermostat has opened), then see if air burps out of cap. Shut off engine and keep rad full as engine cools down.thighten cap & keep reservoir full.

Did upper hose get hot?

Engine overheating, changed thermostat, not the head the oil is fine,.

check to see if you have water coming out of the tail pipe clear water is good but if it has a sweet smell to it or seems very oily looking you could still have a bad head gasket, and also check to see if the fan is working properly as far as coming on and staying on or just shutting off after a few seconds, and look to see if there is a lot of the cooling fins on the front of the radiator has been bent over or smashed or just clogged with bugs or dirt, flushing the radiator only helps the inside so look at it very carefully, one thing you should try is remove the radiator cap when the car is cold and turn the heater on defrost only at full speed and let it run at idle until the engine is at running temp then watch to see if air bubbles are coming out of the cap hole if there is air in the system it will cause the problem you described let it run until all the air is out of the system(no more belching of air bubbles) I hope this helps good luck

2000 Ford Taurus Antifreeze boiling over

hi, the problem you are having is down to one of a couple of problems, now as you state the air blows cold then this points towards the thermostat not opening so this then dont pump the coolant round the engine resulting in the top half of the being hot and the bottom half cold so this is why you only get cold air.

so the first thing you should do is get the thermostat changed.

you also need to bare in mind that the problem could be a damaged water pump this does happen from time to time so check for any signs of water leak where the water pump is by the timing belt, if their is no signs of leak then the thermostat is the likely cause.

you also need to think that as the engine has over heated this could have caused the head gasket to fail so this will need looking at to if after changing the thermostat you have the same over heating problem.

so replace the thermostat as this has clearly gone and then when you re-fill the coolant make sure any bleed screws are undone if you have any on your coolant system usually located in one of the top hoses running around the engine, (not all coolant systems have one as many are self bleeding so dont worry if you dont see any bleed screws) now when you start filling the coolant up make sure you only trickle the coolant in to prevent any air lock building up in the system.

if you are unsure what you are doing then please leave this to someone who has some idea of the kind of work involved in this type of repair

Car just blows out cold air from heater

there is something wrong with your coolant system. Turn your car on, check your fan. If the fan runs nonstop, your relay switch to the fan needs to be changed. If its not the fan, its the thermostat. The thermostat is broke. If the thermostat is broke, it prevents your vehicle from warming up. The thermostat is a temperature Regulator for the engine. If your antifreeze is running nonstop in a circular motion, your engine will run cold. Your engine wont start that cold in the winter either.

if car doesn't run hot with no thermostat...you may be air-locking system when installing thermostat. I always fill the engine block up to the thermostat housing to make sure that engine is full of fluid ..then install thermostat...spring facing down..thenfill radiator making sure car is running so as not to air lock system ...run until top hose gets warm ,showing that your thermostat opened
