I have a 99 grand am that jerks when i accelerate

I have a 99 grand am. It drives fine around town. When I get on the freeway and am slowly gaining speed it will **** around 40 mph. If I get on the freeway and just floor the gas it will not **** at all. At first the check engine light would come on when it jerked and then went off after a while and now it stays on. Change the spark plugs and it seemed to make a difference for one day and started agian. The code says misfire. Any suggestion?

They where changed at the same time. I have done alot of reading about the fuel pump and filter and the injectors. But if it was one of those would it make sense for it to only jerk at speeds over 40mph? And what do you think are the chances of it being the transmission? Thank you for your time.

Well here's my thoughts:
If the code says miss fire, correct?
Then I'm thinking you might have an issue with possibly a timing belt.
How many miles are on the car and have you ever had the timing belt replaced?
As for fuel pump, fuel filter - highly doubt this is the issue.
Now as for a transmission problem? Well that is a possibility especially since it happens around 40 mph.
Just to make you aware that I had an intermittent issue with my son's 87 Jeep Cherokee. I called up my favorite repair shop and informed them of all my business I do with them 'as of buying gas and such' and then told them about my issue with the Cherokee and asked if they might be able to diagnose the problem and suggest a fix for it for a lower fee than they usually charge. They did. Their diagnosis was correct and the repair that I did that they recommended fixed the issue with the Cherokee and we were both happy. I chased my tail for over 6 months with this issue and $90.00 latter 'both fee and cost of part'. Problem resolved.
Just a thought?

Try replacing the fuel filter, it's located underneath on the frame where the front passenger sits, look inside of the frame rail.

I have a 99 jeep grand cherokee and i put gas in it and drove a 1/2 mile and it stopped accelerating and would not start for 20 minutes now it will start but could this be the fuel pump? All of the...

Cant say if its the fuel pump but how a filter works is when the flow stops the sediment will settle off the filter. If enough sediment is in the filter you will fell power loss after driving for awile. Now if you werent having issues before this doing freeway speeds or gunning it around town I wouldnt suspect a filter from just driving around town. If it were a filter on a vehicle your age it would set a check engine light for running lean,
Now its pretty typical for a fuel pump to stop then work later when it cools off.
If your still experimenting look at the fuel pump realy under the hood in the fuse box and if you have a lookalike like a the horn or ac relay then swith one with the fuel pum relay.

Grand cherokee jerking movement

I have a 2000 Grand Jeep Cherokee, I was driving along the freeway maybe doing about 60mph when my jeep suddenly jerked, when it did this my emissions light came on. I pulled over in a parking lot checked all my fluids oil, transmission fluid, everything seemed okay, as I was getting back on the freeway I watched the R PMs that was fine and my emission light went off. After driving for about 5 minutes it did it again and my emissions light came back on, I did notice this time it seemed to be in the rear where this Jerking/ Bucking came from can anyone help??? PLEASE
