Not much info on the car or year but here goes...the pump is located on the engine and has a pressure hose running to the steering box. The pressurized fluid goes through from the pump into the box to assist turning of the wheel. There is a low pressure return hose coming back from the box to the pump. That should be all of the lines running to it unless it has a turbo which I've never seen a cavalier have..

Peugeot 307 sw hdi 2005 power steering failure

first thing , mount the pump properly
if it is bely driven then the belt will not be driving properly to give power steering
if electrical driven then the earth for the pump will not be effective resulting in no power steering assistance
next take it to an accredited power steering shop for a proper diagnosis.

Car dies while driving

Power steering only works when engine is running as it driven by a pump similar to your water pump. You say AC works, the fan motor may work, but w/o engine it will not cool air as it runs a compressor and probably has free-wheel clutch pulley.

How many miles are on your vehicle? Do you know if spark plugs have been changed? How about either ignition coil?

Ho Thomas, It sounds as if the leakage is when the vehicle is being driven that the leakage occurs. That means it is either from the pump or the box or the pipes going to and from. The leakage happens when the vehicle is being driven If you look at those areas you will see where it is wet with fluid and you'll then identify where the problem is. Regards John

Location of power steering pump

I can't seem to find the location of the pump but can give you directions. It will be mounted at the front of the engine and driven by a belt. It is not too big, black in colour and this is what it looks like.

Power steering not working tried adding power steering fluid didn't work.

The Pontiac power steering pump run off a shaft driven and not belt driven. This means that when the steering system is stressed instead of the belt slipping it puts a lot of stress on that shaft and could cause that to break. If nothing seems to effect the power steering I would have to guess that this is what happened and the power steering pump will have to be replaced.

Miata steering feel

Some cars have progressive power steering, light at slow speeds for parking etc. But at speed a heavier feel so you can feel what the grip is like on the front tyres when driven hard. But check the power steering fluid level as well, the pump could be leaking.

1996 GMC Suburban Brake and Power Steering Failure

Daan,it sounds like you have hydraulic assisted brakes you should be able to trace the lines from the PS pump or steering gear box to the master cylinder,if the power steering is low on fluid refill it and have someone turn the steering wheel to one side or the other while you watch for leaks in the lines.if this helps you to locate the leak, just go to your local parts store and pick up a replacement.
