Shifting problem, automatic transmission

Does your check engine light come on when this happens? It's probably when your tranny goes into limp home mode. You should have 1st gear ( only if you shift it there manually) 3rd and reverse. You are probably experiencing the 3rd gear thing and are probably burning up all of the clutches when you accelerate and should probably take it into the shop before something worse happens. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

I have a mazda astina familia 1.5 automatic. i have had the transmission checked by a technician and it is fine. i am getting power loss from engine.it seems the engine has to go into high revs before...

i think you need a new mechanic, i got that problem twice, each time the transmission had to be changed because the 1st gear was shot. i eventually changed to a 5fwd gear-box which increased performance like you would never imagine.

Car does not drive forward but works in reverse

Sad to say but your automatic transmission has bit the dust.

Automatic transmission slips

Quote from Haynes manual for 2000-2005 ford focus:

'Due to the complexity of the automatic transaxle, it is difficult for the home mechanic to properly diagnose and service this component.'

You may have to visit a transmission expert...save up some $$ first.

Car only drives in reverse. When we put the automatic transmission in drive, the engine just revs but doesn't go anywhere.

This is most likely a major problem such as a broken band in the tranny. Sorry.
